Volatility is harmful to investors when there is market sell off but have you look at the positive side of it?
Whenever the market is volatile with enormous amount of volume been traded and your portfolio increases in value, you will enjoy it and that's why I prefer cryptocurrency market than stock exchange.
You can make an average of $30 in trading without adding margin or futures but you can't do that in forex or stock market except there is a huge news that may cause increase in demand of a particular stock which sometimes may be in-between 2-8%
In cryptocurrency, your open position can fetch you 30% in 24 hours depending on the altcoins you purchase. In conclusion, volatility is having positive and negative effects on the market making it ceteris paribus.
