The question is will Chelsea be man enough to hold that position until the end of the season. We have just less than 6 weeks which is about 6 games in total, for them to qualify in the Champions League next season, they need a minimum of 4 win to be able to finish among the the qualifying teams otherwise they will not go anywhere.

Remember that Newcastle is trying to occupy better place in the top of the league, if they distablize the top, Nottingham Forest will be coming back to top 4 and that means they will likely fight back and it will be impossible for Chelsea to get there.

Their fans would definitely still watch this because a win would solidify their 4th spot position ahead of City, Chelsea, and Villa.


I just look at the table and realized that there are no more battle for relegation this season unlike the previous ones. Still possible mathematically but I doubt Ipswich or Leicester could catch up to West Ham and salvage their season.

Yes, it is mathematically possible for them to qualify for the champions league, but it's not realistic to expect Chelsea not to drop any points from their remaining 5 games, if you look how their recent games have turned out. It's not about them just winning their games alone, they'd have to hope that other competitors also drop points too, and it's not just one or two competitors we are talking about.

You are right. The fifth-placed team will have a chance to play in the Champions League next season, but that doesn't take away from the fact that Maresca is a coach who signs new players every week but can't get the best out of them. The amount of talent they have is crazy, but numbers are just numbers. Maresca is overdoing it with the excitement. 5 wins in 16 league games is nowhere near good enough.

Chelsea has dropped form badly, maybe, since Maresca stated that they aren't in the title race this season, they failed to put much effort in their games, because I am still surprised why Chelsea performance declined so badly when they were busy signing all the players in world from the start of the season.

However, If the Premier League had not been given fifth place to qualify, I believe Chelsea would struggle to qualified for the next Champions League, as I see it at this time. Even with their current position, Chelsea is not safe because Manchester City and Newcastle has what it takes to secure the position with the remaining games.

Newcastle seems to have experienced a revival in their playing performance. Because now they always manage to win in a very good way. I absolutely respect the Toffies football but the last time out at Everton Phil Foden made the fans start believing they could win the league. A PhilFoden rocket! He dragged fans back into the game. I pray he finds his form back. Old stadium. Fine memories for City there.

We would have another confirmed candidate this weekend if Leicester loses to Liverpool. Wolves and West Ham only need to win 2 of their remaining games to push Ipswich out of the window to the championship. We would be having three of the championship promoted clubs back to the championship for next season.

Yeah I agree City might not be as dominant as before but they still have the quality to win. If Foden and De Bruyne play well they can break any defense. Everton will fight hard but I think City will push for the win especially with the title race going on. It might not be easy but I still see City taking the three points and yeah De Bruyne is a legend hope he stays one more season
