Bitcoin is not a threat to government but a threat to economic zone of fiat. If the investors will turn their back against banks investments and put their money in Bitcoin. The government does not like that system because no tax to receive from bitcoin investment where as in banks tax is always a mandate.

A threat? Is that how you see Bitcoin?, if true then you shouldn't be using it , mind you money laundering has been there way before bitcoin was created, just that with bitcoin anonmity the offenders won't get caught cause they can not be traced down to their hiding place you can only track their transactions using blockchain explorer and nothing more, let's face it everything has its advantage and disadvantage so let's just say thats the only disadvantage of using bitcoin.

You are right that the government has no control over Bitcoin. Bitcoin is self-regulated. No one has any control over Bitcoin. So the government does not want to legalize it easily. Even then, some countries have already legalized Bitcoin. I hope the whole world will one day legalize Bitcoin.
