i learned a lot about the forum the last three weeks.

I did not realize how time is counted and needed to raise activities score pass 2000.

I am reading a lot of threads and how found that reading posts counts for time on the forum.( makes sense as you are on the forum)

I thought you needed to post  to qualify but reading works to.

I went from 7 days 7 hours to 8 days and 17 hours.

Correct, it doesn't have any complications as you can see. In this forum time is counted in its entirety, not only when you are "moving" through the different forums or writing a thread/post, as happens in BTT for example (at least that's how it was before, I don't know if that has changed).

You only have a few hours left.

Yeah I now know why it was so long. I could read for 20 minutes without a post then walk away. That resulted in zero time.

If you read for 14 minutes and see a post to karma you get the 14 minutes.

I most have lost a full day maybe 2 by just reading a while  and then walking away without a click.

Now I simply make sure I do something right before I stop reading and I get that time. Like right now I will leave but I typed this in. If I had read this thread for a while and

walked away I lose that reading time.

This was best seen recently when aggressive protection was activated on Cloudflare. After a few minutes of inactivity, I had to go through the captcha check again. I assume this is the time that any action is required to count the activity points.

Now I see that you have reached 10 hours online on the forum, and your number of activities has exceeded 2000, perhaps it can be concluded that 10 hours is the necessary period to continue the growth of activity points.

Yes you need the 10 hours of activity. But to keep the activity you can't walk away. I am typing right now so if I post this and go get a cup of coffee the time it took to write this will get counted. But if I stop right now go to the kitchen for coffee don't post this and do not get back to the pc I will lose the time I just spent to write this. I think 15 minutes of idle time drops the activity back to zero.
So I am going to kitchen now right after I click post. Then this time will not get lost.


now look here this is the really big bug of counting the time.

I have to add 3 screen shots and a post. to show that the forum has a bug. be patient

time  screen taken 7:34 my counted time  10 days 51 minutes. I made sure the counted time was current as I typed in a post just prior I then walked away and ate breakfast



so I came back 16 minutes later at 7:50  zero action on the forum none and if you see the screen shot my forum time stayed at 10 days and 51 minutes that's fair.





next screen shot is at 809 and I was in constant action from 7:50 and I got 3 minutes credit not 19.  and this is the bug

Lets say you go sign on at 800 go to a subject thread read a few post and give a karma at 803 you get 3 minutes of activity and you then make a really long reply from 803 right after the karma to 819 hit send. you were active 19 consecutive minutes and given credit for 3 I estimate my daily activity is 13 or 14 days as I do some very long posts that take 20 minutes or more to make

I have noticed this behaviour amongst beginner traders, in any bull market period you can make plenty money without being knowledgeable about trading, the hard part is once this period ends and you continue trading, you'll start losing.

..and I am not sure under which category this behaviour falls in. Is it impatience, greed or fomo?

It is the inability to accept reality.

I trade kind of but I have a five part plan of trade.

pretend I have 100,000 usd to work with along with 30,000 in mining gear. grand total of 130,000

33,000 in cash on the side lines
33,000 in btc on the side lines

34,000 is the working amount. that is at risk

along with 30,000 in mining gear.


take 10,000 of the 34,000 working mount as cash

set up a buy ladder down

89.1
87.1
85.1
83.1
81.1
79.1
all the way to
42.1  in $200 dollar steps

keep 14,000 in btc as your mining hodl and when coins are 90 to 110k stack stack stack stack stack and hodl that pile.


set up a sell ladder up.

121k

161k in 200$ steps.

what are your risks

 well the exchange could be robbed I use coins the the cash on coinbase is insured but you could lose the coins around 17k in coins maybe 14k


the miner host could burn down and you could lose 30k in gear.


so of the 130,000 in value dedicated to crypto on any day you could lose maybe 45k.

other risk a super crash could devalue your coins maybe 50k


but the example above that entire 130k is all profit and it in the event of a super worst case drops to 33k in sidelines cash plus a cash claim on coinbase of maybe 17k

so the works case it the 130k becomes 50k. it is still all profit.

Sideways in the 90-110 slot works best as you grow your stack.


and the pair of aces in the hole are selling stuff on ebay along with posting here and bitcointalk to earn more.

My biggest danger is to go off track and over expand the mining which exposes me to my host going bad.

So a do I get something for pointing out a bug in the time counting and b and here is the most important thing can the time be altered. If you did 30 minutes it is far less likely that a post take that much time. 15 minutes is wrong.

It feels good how time reading and learning from threads here on this forum adds to one's points to help rank-up speedily. And this forum is very fun educative to be on as well.

Obviously, only the time between two concrete "click" actions is counted, and I agree with you, that is not the best way for counting activity.

To be honest, I still don't get along well with the board structure on this forum, so I usually go back to the home page and move on. Now it seems to me that this is one of the reasons why I have significantly more activity compared to members like you, even though we spend the same amount of time here. And we have quite similar other statistics.
