Newbies are vulnerable to FAKE/SCAM Airdrops
« on: February 02, 2021, 07:51:42 PM »
I understand that a lot of new members (including veterans) are looking to make money from airdrops or bounties. Let me remind everyone (especially the noobs) that there are a lot of scammers taking advantage of this.

I recently encountered a website that's offering to airdrop their token for all Doge holders. This is how the scam works:
1. User are required to link their wallet to the airdrop website
2. It will ask you to agree to the terms to make it look legitimate
3. Once you agree, you will be ask to submit your private key of your seed phrase.

Again newbies, do not give your private keys or seed phrase to anyone.

Newbies are the most greedy and unsuspecting ones so this automatically makes them the primary target of this scammers, I mean who else would agree to give out their private key online to an unknown website been runned by unknown people?
I pray that many of the news ones in this forum would see this message and heed to it for their own good.

I used to think the same way but this is not the case anymore. As I witnessed late last year, even veterans can become careless at some point. They could be drunk, they could be tired, they could be stressed, or for whatever reason, they can commit the small but costly mistakes.

Scam can't be controlled and in the current situation in which the crypto gain a lot of audience, it's very difficult to guess the fake/scam coins/airdrops etc, also there is no guarantee for the coins price/worth.

You could be mixing scam/fake airdrops with shit token airdrops. What I've said in the OP is pretty clear and you can spot it easily if you are aware that you shouldn't be giving your private key or seed phrase to other people.

You are correct. we saw many scammers and fake team who always try to search private keys in different way like airdrop or email or malware. So those who are newbies here always keep open your eyes and you will be safe. Without authentic link or reference you should not open anything and who will search your private keys he/she must be fake person. so be careful.

Thank you for the good advice, those scammers know quite well that newbies are easy prey, because of their low knowledge. Although you can't get much from a newbie because they are not yet qualified to partake in signatures and some others, above all, this is NOTED.

Most of the newbie and beginners don't know anything about fake and scam projects. They are crowdly invest their labor and hardworks to promote bounties and airdrops. Airdrop and projects owners takes advantage.

Currently newbies think that the crypto market is quite safe, perhaps they misunderstand crypto as blockchain. Newbie easily believes in linking all their wallets to the swap platforms after providing wallet code + seed phase + keystore to earn airdrop token or swap some tokens... My friends used to have the same situation after accessing wallet on EtherDelta :)

That's right. Privacy is very important. We need to be wise on this matter. We need money, but we also need to be secure and sure to what we are trying to enter with.

I can imagine how newbies are victims of this. It takes conscious effort and alertness not to fall victim. Not been carried away by the end result and carelessly give out private informations. We really need to be careful. Hackers are on the lookout!!!

And also their is a lot of airdrops and bounties that are asking from their participants to provide and pass KYC which i think its dangerous somehow, and i think airdrops now are useless so investing the real money since we are in a bullmarket is the best option so far.

All is right. I also encountered a scammer sending messages in my telegram telling how his account is lock up because of the strict regulations but asking some amount to send to the exchange to remove from being lock. Too obvious but if you are newbies it is so tempting because it offers you a higher amount of btc.

Newbies must be careful not to easily believe the scammers quick rich promises. The Keys is the Wallet. No keys means no chance to own the wallet once again. They really need to adopt the "do your own research mindset."

There are lot's of scam bounties and Airdrop that's why has a newbie you have to do your research first before joining any bounty or airdrop to avoid working without being paid. I know that's kind of painful that's why you don't just have to work anyhow!!
