CoinGecko's Portfolio feature: very interesting & useful

Coinmarketcap is still the most famous crypto statistics website with more than 8 million views per day, but it is quite slow. That is why, recently, I switched to CoinGecko and discovered many interesting features.

One of them is Portfolio. This feature is not only to separate some cryptocurrencies that we really care about, we can create a portfolio with virtual investment to learn trading similar to Blockfolio application.

Some advantages I see:
+ Convenience for newbies: there is no need for an account on exchanges to use their Demo feature. All they need is a CoinGecko account;
+ Create excitement and engage crypto fans with trading career;
+ As a crypto-related game, we could even turn it into a contest of trading or investing for our users;

My friends are also very excited about this, they have been using CoinGecko for a long time but have not tried it out.
I also use the portfolio creation function to practice trading with an investment of $1K divided equally among the 10 most notable cryptocurrencies. Of course I didn't add USDT & XRP

As you can see, I "made" $36.74 profit after 2 days.
Surprisingly, BNB is the cause of the drop in profits. I have "invested" at ATH

I was not aware of that CoinGecko feature, and I find it really good to practice trading, some new users will appreciate before launching into the real world of trading. I just use blockfolio to monitoring all my assets.I think this is the good one. Actually so many mobile app have a feature like that. And i prefer using app than coingecko website

I also just learned and "discovered" that when my friends and I wanted to try tracking a virtual investment in crypto market. The Blockfolio mobile app is handy, but it doesn't have a news ecosystem like CoinGecko
Thanks to the Portfolio utility on CoinGecko, my friends and I rarely talk about investment assumptions. The debates are less because the returns in portfoilo are the most reliable, and we can focus on more interesting topics.
CoinGecko really did a good job of this, as long as they improve the "Total Spent" option when "Add transaction" will be great, I just asked them in the Telegram chat group.

This is one of the reason why I love COingecko, the portfolio dashboard is very good to track all your investment with one click, it is really shipping new features very fast I don't know the number of users on Coinmaketcap now but I believe the figure is likely to be close or Coingecko will have more visitors than COinmarketcap. If they keep adding new features they will surpass CMC. I just hope

Coingecko has been doing well especially from last year they have become proactive and introduced many new features especially the personalized features are great for reminders and portfolio tracking.

CoinGecko is always likely to compete Coin market Cap. But personally, I often use CoinGekco. Moreover the website feels like lighter than when opening CMC. Or this is only about the internet connection. But I don't think so. The feature of calculating the crypto to fiat is also available there.

This coingecko is actually quite complete and the quality is getting better. I think it could be that this coingecko will become a favorite of the crypto community someday in looking at coin prices and also market analysis.

For now I only activate the alarm bells for rising and falling prices on the application on the exchange, I will try the features of coingecko as soon as possible to get as much information as possible from my portfolio.

It's nice to see that platforms for monitoring Itoken coins are evolving and give users more convenient ways to monitor and track growth and decline, where they can easily find the information they need.

When binance acquired coinmarketcap, more crypto users shifted to coingecko and i was one of them as well. After that event, coingecko constantly introducing more features in their website so that everyone can be benefited from those features. Except portfolio feature, they also have some features for defi users to track any projects and even anyone can use APY calculator for getting the ROI result before investing into that projects.

I agree with you @Review Master, Coinmarketcap has been for many years the center of statistics and information for cryptocurrency users, but after Binance bought it it's not the same anymore, it looks like a store of its own exchange. That has caused many users to stop using it, and that is what CoinGecko has taken advantage of, luring them in with new and original features.

Coinmarketcap is also famous and leading, but many people think that it is just a channel for Binance to manipulate the crypto market and advertise for Binance with untrue data.
I also use Coingecko for its speed and friendliness, and I also love candy for getting crypto documents.

Personally I find cryptocompare's portfollio much better. It's slow to load up when you have 100+ positions open, but gives you a much better overview, as well as being able to see your portfollio is terms of btc and eth value which I find most important. It's also possible to have have multiple portfolios (for example to separately log a trading account's performance against a hodl account). I've been using it for years and don't have many complaints

Personally I haven't found a more advanced portfolio tracker that exists for free
