John McAfee has been charged with securities fraud and money laundering

John McAfee, creator of the anti-virus software of the same name, has been charged with fraud and money laundering in federal court in Manhattan. The indictment relates to two schemes related to the fraudulent promotion of cryptocurrencies against investors.

McAfee and a colleague have "allegedly made more than $ 13 million from investors," said Manhattan US Attorney Audrey Strauss. A so-called “pump and dump” scheme, according to the indictment, and undisclosed agreements to promote certain currencies in exchange for compensation. Strauss said:

"The defendants allegedly used McAfee's Twitter account to post messages to hundreds of thousands of his Twitter followers promoting various cryptocurrencies through false and misleading statements in order to hide their true selfish motives."

I wonder if something like that can happen to Elon as well?
Does the McAfee deserve it?

One more thing, this is not the same lawsuit as he was charged with tax evasion in Spain and SEC charges for allegedly fraudulently promoting ICOs.

You probably didn't get it right, he pumped and dumped legit cryptocurrencies, that's kind of like spreading insider knowledge about stocks.

For me McAfee is a scam and is good at abusing his popularity in the crypto space. He is considered to be one of the first major advisors in the field to support a series of ICO projects, unfortunately most of them have a bad fate. McAfee's statements are not simply an expression of support for crypto, it is designed to direct investors into crypto projects he supports or may have bought in bulk. I hope this lawsuit will help make the crypto market cleaner, at least advisors working for people instead of great remuneration.
For me, ElonMusk is less dangerous, and more intelligent, he uses DOGE, a coin loved by the crypto community, to promote this market. But the recent tweets have been somewhat overly aggressive and brutally interfered with the DOGE market, many have lost money investing in DOGE at ATH, and many people dislike the way he wants to control whales.
I hope ElonMusk won't face a lawsuit, we still need his reputation.

Why am I not surprise! It is John after all the joker of the century, always trying to display play Mr Know-it-all while in the real sense of things he is not, the guy wanted to show himself off like the crypto lord but he was caught on his act and got exposed, he knows nothing about crypto, lol, McAfee has many faces so I won't take anything away from him.

I have never understood, nor will I understand, how people can get carried away by someone like they did with John McAfee. Are there really people willing to follow what a guy who has said publicly that he abused drugs and alcohol says?. A guy we've seen on numerous occasions wipe his nose for consuming some substance?. Personally, I would never listen to or do what such a person said. McAfee cares about him, money and his lifestyle, nothing more.

John McAfee will always be John, the leopard never changes it's spot indeed, this guy is a very reckless fella who don't give a s**t about the authority, he seems always high or drunk all the time, I remember back in the days when most people will always look up to him for advice on what coin to buy or invest in, some of the projects he suggested end up as scam since then many people lose confidence in him, even his Ghost project was another well stage scam, lol,

John Mcafee has always been in the news especially in recent times and it's mostly due to one or the other issue with the government and legal bodies. Does that mean that this guy has eventually turn out to be a fraud? I remember in 2018 when he was a major supporter of NOBS, a shitcoin that is has gone completely under the water.

Elon musk also investigated by securities exchange & Commission (SEC ) with low price Coin dogecoin pumped phenomena. I think John McAfee sometimes advertising fake and valueless projects .

Again, McAfee did something controversial and attract people's attention. But why he always did bad things for this. I hope this case won't make him go to jail.
