How to change my forum display username, to hide my identity

To change the display name it is easy

step1. find your forum id.
just click on your username in any post you did.
my id is 1

step2. Go to account settings : Modify profile > account settings
or simply change the url below by adding u= your id instead of u=1

step3. Name field > change it to your new display name

step4. don't forget to click change profile.

You was pleased by discovering you could change the forum's name to reflect my entire identity. I was eager to share this information to customers as I used to think the turning to the entire names is impossible.

Do you think it is a good idea if members' of the forum can easily change their display name (if this option is still available), i know it could seem cool for some members to edit their display name how they like and when they like, but if it is that easy, it could also be abused. Maybe it is better if only admin can change display name or if you set a restriction to it, I.E. member's can only change display names once in 12 months.

It's definitely a good point. A lot of users might abuse this setting and constantly change their username, making it hard to identify them except you click on their profile. I think some restrictions should be placed or certain rules to guide this as it might get abused if not guided properly.

Exactly, if it is that easy to change your display name, it can surely be abused in one way or the other. It is good the admin saw my post and thought it to be a good point, of course that does not mean it is something that would be impemented immediately, but i believe the admin might consider it in the future and probably add it to their to-do list.
