The market is doing opposite of what you say. Old altcoins, whos prices have dropped after previous bull market havent recovered yet, not even half of the prices they used to have, and you say they recover quickly. Take any altcoin that wasnt top10-20 last years, and check its prices. Most of them sell have minus 60-80% from previous ATH. Where is a quick recovery? Matic shows good results. -82% from ATH. That is really impressive.
Almost old coins price dropped drastically and get difficult position recovery to higher price, I believe still has opportunity raise up to higher price again but right now most of old coins seems not really worth it than investing with new coins for short term target.
Any new altcoin easily break out to higher price and have good increasing comparison price than old coins, I think if want earn much profitable in short term investing in new altcoins is better way than keep invest with old coins take longer time get recovery.
We all believe that old coins will one day reach ATH, but I have more trust in new ones. I havent made any research or did calculations, but if we take 1 or 2 year timeframe, and compare any old altcoin price change since 2022-2023 till August 28 2024, and do the same with new projects that listed in 2022-2023 till today, they would show better price performance.
It is natural for us to think that new coins are more profitable than old coins, because most new coins are carried away by the public's fomo and hype, which will provide significant benefits at the beginning of the market list and will always sink if there are new coins again, but in the end these new coins will also experience a period like old coins trying to rise and always making innovations so that they remain valuable and can be used as a mainstay of investment
I think your post has something that will help us to find a truth in following discussion. We have old coins, and those that are left high on top represent blockchains mostly. And we have new coins, that are usually trend related, and only a minimum are blockchains. We can put away all trendy coins and forget about them, as they wont be on trend next year. We have new blockchains, that barely bring something new to community. And we have old blockchains, that nobody are interested in anymore (Tron, Neo, Stellar for example. When was the last time you here something came up on their blockchains?), as technology goes forward. So we end with a bunch of top old altcoins, that are in top only because of their popularity. And that is it. Popularity helps to make huge marketcaps. Something new appears and their popularity decreases significantly.
To sum up: old coins are slowly dying, new coins are under huge influence of trend and could be in demand for a 6-12months max. Only top of the top like BTC, ETH, BNB and stables survive.
