Funny enough that in every Bitcoin cycle, more coins are been added to the market and I wonder which ones are really good for the long term. There are thousands of projects that are launched that I don't even know anything about them right now and trust me, by the time bull market is gone, that's when you will be hearing of their existence after people have sold.

Some projects die as a result of team not doing anything after the bull run. You know that in bull run, team simple announcement can pump a coin but it's very difficult to do that in a bear market.
Getting to decide or pinpoint the right project that’s right and safe for buying and holding for the longer term has always been the problem when it comes to investing in altcoins, this is mostly because, all these projects are just alike and have literally same characteristics and features which of course may likely make making a choice or the right choice seem like an impossible choice.

This is actually the reason I always try to advice investors, especially the newbies to stay clear off these projects, at least for their own sake, because it’s very easy to delve into the wrong project without even knowing and then investing and losing all their funds in a twinkle of an eye.
In fact, currently there are many altcoins with fundamentals that look strong because behind them there are large companies that are partners or investors. So it can be said that having a good backed does not necessarily result in a good price at this time. And yeah things become more difficult for us to analyze properly. However, what is clear is that currently it is easier to analyze for the short term than for the long term.

A fund can invest in dozens of tokens simultaneously, and of course, they cannot manipulate and pump all tokens in the portfolio. The selected tokens will have a chance to increase strongly in price and become prominent in the market, attracting capital and investors, thereby continuing to increase strongly. Conversely, neglected tokens will only recover following the general market trend and then continue to decline in the crypto winter.

For the long-term vision, only a few top coins are worth holding: BTC, ETH, XRP, BNB. While for the short-term vision, the market always has many new projects and new trends for whales to manipulate and pump, making each cycle very vibrant and special.

Actually, if we have the skills to analyze newly released coins, we can predict which coins will experience a high price increase. That will give us the potential to get bigger profits, but unfortunately not everyone can do that. One way is to choose coins that have been proven to be good, for us to invest and trade. Although the price movement may tend to be slow, it can be safer for us to do. Although there is actually no guarantee of security either, for all the activities we do in this Cryptocurreny.
Even if you have good knowledge in analysis, it won't be easy to reveal the potential of new coins. Many bad new projects look very convincing in the early of the project development, but they suddenly dissapear when they already get enough money from early investors. I think it is better to choose old coins that we already know them very well. There are also top old coins that can give us the safer way in the long term investment. However, we must choose the coins with strong fundamentals.
But at least if we have a little knowledge about it, then we will be able to easily distinguish which coins are good and which are not. I am sure not all new coins are the same, therefore it is very dangerous to invest in new coins for those who are lay or new to Crypto.
Indeed, the analysis we do will not be completely correct, but at least we can minimize the loss of money that we will suffer.

In fact, currently there are many altcoins with fundamentals that look strong because behind them there are large companies that are partners or investors. So it can be said that having a good backed does not necessarily result in a good price at this time. And yeah things become more difficult for us to analyze properly. Sure, many altcoins have strong fundamentals. The developers or the teams are aware of this, fundamentals are the most important parts of the project that can guarantee the future of the projects. Those projects also have partnerships with big crypto platforms, this also becomes the factor to make them be stronger. However, it is true that we still get difficulty to analyze the potential of the projects in the future. Sometimes, the projects can change after few months or years. They can be weak projects if the teams have no good progress in developing the projects.

At a time like now, I really agree that analyzing in the short term is very easy compared to the long term, Because the situation is indeed approaching a movement to increase immediately and many potential altcoins have so far been able to survive well because they are supported by very good investors and have always contributed so that they can still survive and contribute to their holders.

I think most effective with short term trading strategies because not stable yet price of bitcoin or altcoin have opportunity for us get chance to buy back for several time at lower price. Maybe keep hold or set up profit for long term target we can't accumulate buy back and earn profit during correction moment have been easily right now when bitcoin get flash pump or flash dump.
Last week almost several moment bitcoin or altcoin get correction price, maybe if set up profit for long term we can't take great moment to buy back on lower price than become short term holding.

We are already in the last year of bullish season. We shouldn't buy coins for a long term, we probably will sell the coins in few weeks/months. If we want to buy for the long term holding, we must wait for the next year. Buying for the long term must be in the bearish season.

You're right, the last week of December 2024 was the best time to buy coins as many as possible. Now, it is no longer the best time to buy, it is time to wait for the peak prices for selling the coins. I'm sure there are many people already buying many coins in December. We know there will be a good trigger for the pump in this month (January 2025).

It seems like the opportunity to buy coins is still there because bitcoin has not reached ATH again so the opportunity to make a profit is still wide open but the coin is suitable for the short and medium term.
I agree with you if you plan to buy coins for the long term it is better during the bearish season.

That's the problem, not everyone can do new coin analysis. Especially a beginner, choosing a coin that has been proven to be good and has a good price history will be safer.
But of course we will not always depend on this, a beginner also needs to increase his knowledge to dive deeper into this cryptocurrency trading and investment.

In the list of top coins, besides new famous names like Solana, Polygon, Polkadot, Terra, Cardano… there are still many famous old projects from last season like EOS, IOTA, Litecoin, Waves, NEO, TRON... Many people say that these are old platforms and are considered "zombie platforms" because they don't have many users now. Many people even mock them and say they will soon be replaced by newer, stronger, more user-friendly projects.

Personally, I still believe that each token has its own moment. The old projects have been around for about 3-4 years, and the team has enough time to perfect the technology and create a product for the community. This is very different from new projects that haven't run testnet/mainnet or MVP yet, everything is still just a promise on paper… Also their community is huge, and these tokens are absolutely worthy for whales to select and pump/dump.

I still spend most of my assets on quality old projects like Ethereum, EOS, IOTA, NEO, TRON. I still assume they have x100 potential in this bullrun.

Do you own old coins? Do you still believe in their future?
I think I personally still believe in these coins you're referring to as old coins because Bitcoin the most popular crypto coin was once like infact when Bitcoin started some few years ago nobody wanted to get it even for free so I still believe that most of these coins you're referring to are still work in progress and most of them will be a hot cake in the future
People should start seeing these coins as a potential investment base because if you critically go through their white paper you will understand that they have potential to grow in the future

Absolutely right, during bitcoin still not reach another new higher price I think bigger opportunity for buying any altcoin but keep priority the most potential coins only.
Have moment for altcoin get raise up to higher price around few percent but bitcoin still under the latest higher price, maybe difficult for altcoin get higher price again if bitcoin have return back above $100k and reach new ATH because if bitcoin have more dominance at market difficult for breaking out altcoin price.

Yeah
Just as you rightly said, having large companies or investors backing a project doesn’t necessarily mean or guarantee the project’s success or profitability, those companies and investors there are only after their own personal gains too just like every other person who are investing in those projects, so there’s still every tendency of a crash in the future, it’s also very possible that those moves are made just to create some sort of hype around the project in order to lure other investors to tag along.
So it’s important to always DYOR before delving into any sort of projects because anything can happen along the line and you end up losing everything you invest.

Due to few information which is obtained from new coins, it becomes very hard for us as new traders or investors to carry out an analysis on whether the particular coin has a lot of profit making aspect or not. Researchers can find other practical information such as articles or communities or discussions, where we can get more information about new coins or projects. This is why we need to learn more to enhance our chances of seeing opportunity that can create values in the Cryptocurrency realm. Despite our own scepticism we seem to be able to find something positive in everything we have been through. Experience makes no one a guru from the beginning but with practise we can enhance our capacity of reaching the right conclusions in future.

Risk comes with opportunity. Fundamental analysis can identify the potential of many new projects, and suitable capitalization for that potential in the future. And frankly, in the context of many old projects being abandoned by whales, analyzing and participating in new potential projects with transparent teams and large funds supporting them is still safe and has the potential to generate greater profits.

For me, only a few old coins are worth investing in the coming cycles: BTC, ETH, BNB. XRP, ADA, and SOL are also very potential but unfortunately, they cannot make me feel at ease or confident in the long term. Meanwhile, we can name many new projects that are extremely attractive such as Ton, Sui, Aptos, Arbitrum, Optimism...
