I assumed you are talking with experience and how much knowledge you have gained so far from the cryptocurrency space and of course when you do analysis correctly or had followed the cryptocurrency market for years you would be able to factor out how the overall market behavior and reactions does over the past periods of time.

From my understanding I have begining to understand same thing from the market as well, so, let take LTC or EOS as an example; when you look at this coin you would see that there is no much significant impact on their market because investors who had invested on time has actually pulled of their investment to a more newer and vibing project that would yield profit to them, than focusing the old coins.

Although, I still agreed with that some of the reputed coin like ethereum Bitcoin or top 10 altcoins are doing well today because they have enough market order or request (liquidity) and their trading volume are higher couples that they are most preferred coin. Now, with newer coin, you can invest and make significant amount from your investment but then, there must be thorough investigation and analysis before one could venture into such investments on new projects because we can't entirely predict what they holds to their investors if such projects is a long last one or they only with intention to scam people of their good funds.

However, if someone analyzes well and invests in old good projects, then even if they do not get good returns in the short term, we can expect to get good returns in the long term. In the past, people used Bitcoin to buy Pizza but it seems rarely happen again. But the Bitcoin adoption will continue although people prefer to use as their investment. Yeah, with old coins, at least they are not scam projects because they have been able to continue to exist with the market in the long term. However, not many projects among them can return as impressively as XRP and SOL, most of them only exist with the depreciation of the token.

Among many new projects, many potential projects continue to succeed such as Arbitrum, Optimism, Aptop, Sui... I don't want to mention memecoins because they are just a joke in the market and most will soon disappear. Investors can choose both old coins and new coins to balance opportunity with risk. But the use of Bitcoin for payment purposes, is not easy to adapt in some countries. For example in our country, Bitcoin is only legal for investment. Just like what happened in my country, bitcoin is only for investment, because it has not been used as a means of payment. The government has not allowed bitcoin as a payment method, maybe one day bitcoin will be allowed as a payment method, after experiencing a high level of popularity.

If you do a survey asking day traders, you will realize that they mostly use altcoins to gain profits in the short term because they tend to be more volatile in the short run, whereas Bitcoin is good in the long run because it tends to have the ability to recover its price no matter how low it goes, which is the reason why it's the best choice when it comes to long-term investments.

New coins issued from new projects cannot guarantee that they will provide the best because they will usually slump after a while and are unable to survive, even though some are able but relatively few.
