Bitcoin has achieved a lot over the past years and deserves much credit for that yet has not reached it goal. Bitcoin is set to reach a global patronage where everyone will accept its usefulness in terms of payment method and adopt it in their businesses and transactions. Well, Bitcoin is still young as compared to the traditional fiat, hence there are still more rooms for developments.

Indeed bitcoin has come a long way since 2009 when it was created, it has succeeded in breaking so many barriers like transferring money from one part of the world to another part instantly without waiting 2-3days,but as you said bitcoin hasn't achieved its main goal which is to become a global currency, adopted and used by everyone around the world, although adoption is taking place, but it's quite slow, since it's a decentralized currency no government wants it  citizens to use bitcoin within their country, that's why it is prohibited in some places,the future is uncertain, maybe the government might accept it later, but I believe in a few years from now, bitcoin will definitely achieve its main goal.
