Enough of the Kuminga news, I guess since it didn't gain that much traction from the media. What's popular right now is the complete transformation of Zion Williamson's body.

https://twitter.com/ClutchPoints/status/1825014545095807378#

I know that many here already saw his transformation, but that's a huge weight loss especially if we know how his body is last season. He played a career-high 70 games last regular season and the Pelicans would've won that play-in game against the Lakers if only Zion didn't get injured in the crucial minutes. In your opinion, do you think that this transformation by him will result to a better Pelicans team on the upcoming regular season? Or it will be the opposite.

For me, this body transformation that we are seeing from him every single off-season will be the same as how Ben Simmons are hyping his fans on Instagram every off-season with his three-point and perimeter shooting. :D

I do think that Zion Williamson's body transformation will have positive impact on the team as he will no longer be injury prone. One thing that is questionable for me if his body right now survive the banging down low as he almost lost 1/3 of his weight lol.

Every start of the season though, Zion has lost a lot of pounds, nevertheless, he is injury prone and then takes month for him to recover again and so he can't really built momentum on his career.

There were even news of him that he will be traded, and so he had to show the management that he is willing to do and what it takes and so he goes on anothe weight loss and hopefully it might help his body to survived or should he be gaining muscles with this weight loss?

Zion actually looks better from the picture and his knees are surely thanking him now ;D He can play more games even if he keeps his high-flying playing style. He won't be able to push defenders as he used to (with his old body) but he'll surely be quicker.

Muscles would be the next to gain IMO.
If he will maintain that body coming to the regular season, he will just be bulldozed by other stronger players inside the paint. With his previous body, he's the one bulldozing those players but this time, it might be the opposite.

It's good that the Pelicans gave him another year after years of disappointment. Many has high expectations to the team as soon as he got traded, but it's all been a disappointment. He's injury prone like what you said, but I hope that the acquisition of Murray will make the Pelicans better even without him.

Yes, that's what we want to see from him, gaining muscles and so he can still bang with the big boys in the middle and still perform highlight dunks because he is also athletic and a freak.

And maybe he can stay away from being injury prone if he will build more muscles. Hopefully, this chance that the Pelicans have been given him will translate into something big for him this season and not be another disappointment of not completing at least a full season.

I had seen this kid before, Duke's Cooper Flagg, likely top pick in 2025 NBA Draft, signs shoe deal with New Balance.

And it's supposed to be that he is the biggest player next year in the NBA so there's a lot of hype around him. And then even before entering the NBA he had a huge deal already from New Balance. Although it's not the first since we have seen a lot of players before going into the big league, they already a shoe deal with Nike. With that, he will be in the compnay of  Kawhi Leonard, Tyrese Maxey, Jamal Murray as brand ambassador of New Balance.

The hype is on him that's for sure especially when he played against the US Olympic team where he played really well against the likes of Lebron James and other all-star players. You can see from the kid that he isn't scared on anybody and can create shots.

However, I've seen a YouTube video that there's a chance that Cooper Flagg might not be the top 1 pick for next year's draft. In fact, there are 5 of them that "MIGHT" get that top spot. You can check the video here: LINK. Well, him getting that top spot would be a good thing for the US teams as a whole because looking at the top 1 pick for the past 2 years, it wasn't American but French (Wemby and Risacher).

^ Was it really that important if a player is the top pick in the draft or not? Sure being no. 1 is a good story to tell but it might work against them too. Anyway, great job landing a shoe deal at an early age. Hopefully, that doesn't distract his game. Fortune achieved early without great effort almost always get to their head.

Yeah, just need to prove yourself that you are that good and for sure even if you are not the number 1, then I think he can be a good candidate for ROTY award. Just doesn't make sense though that this kid has a shoe deal as early, prior to the NBA.

But I guess New Balance doesn't want other competitor to get inside as they lock him up for good. So let's see if he can live up the hype of becoming the top draft pick next year or not.

At this current era, not anymore.
I mean, we've seen lots of top pick who became bust in NBA history. Players like Anthony Bennett, Kwame Brown, Michael Olowokandi, and of course let's not forget the great Greg Oden.

Being a top pick might be big for fans, but for the player, it might be the opposite because that adds more pressure towards him. As a top pick, the expectation towards him is at it's highest. Great job for landing that shoe deal this early because if Flagg will be drafted on the NBA a year from now, other shoe brands might try and get him. Nice move by New Balance. Anyway, he will be at the top of the draft pick next year that's for sure. :)

Imho, Oden had good potential. I think if he had not initially been so injury-prone, he could have become one of the top centers in the league.
But I agree, a top draft pick doesn't guarantee a player anything, just like a last draft pick isn't a verdict for a player. A good example is Isaiah Thomas, who was selected last in the draft but still succeeded in the NBA.

Greg Oden is a rare case though, he has been playing already but when he enters the NBA is become suddenly a glass player. We haven't seen this case of players entering the league, sure there are bust like Candy man and Kwame Brown, but this two was able to play at least and have a career.

But Oden was very different, so imagine him and Brandon Roy teaming up and have a run during their partnership (although Roy has also that rare case in his knees forcing him to quit as well).

At this current era, not anymore.
I mean, we've seen lots of top pick who became bust in NBA history. Players like Anthony Bennett, Kwame Brown, Michael Olowokandi, and of course let's not forget the great Greg Oden.

He was great coming into the NBA from college and has a lot of potential, being the number 1 draft pick. But if fate is going to intervene, we would not see how great Oden could have been in his prime.

So it's not a guarantee, but still there are factors that behind our control and we could only wish that he didn't get injured or at least recovered from it. But as I have said, probably it is what written on Oden career before he even put his feet on the arena.

Speaking of Brandon Roy, I've seen a video online a few months ago with regards to some of our current superstars and they said that Brandon Roy is one of the best examples of "A Superstar in the making, but injuries ruined his career." Not the exact words, but the point is Brandon might've carried the Blazers on his prime and possible to get a title with him and Oden, but both of them got injury-prone that ruined both of their careers. It's unfortunate for them to end up in that situation, but that's just how it is.

As for Isaiah Thomas, he became a superstar when he's on the Celtics, and nobody expected him to be the main guy of the Celtics TBH, not even me. On the flipside though, just like what happened with Roy and Oden, injuries ruined his career as well and until now, he doesn't have a guaranteed contract on any teams. Maybe it's time for him to play overseas isn't he?

Periodically, I see news about him practicing with one NBA team or another. So, I don't think he's going to give up trying to get back to the NBA, although it's obvious that with each passing year, it's becoming an increasingly difficult goal for him. By the way, in the last 4 seasons, he played only 53 games in the NBA.
