Well now that ChipMixer is gone I would love to see if anyone can create a tool that can have estimate what mixers are currently most used in the world.
I know this is not an easy thing to do, but maybe we can check number of visits, available coins, number of transactions from confirmed addresses, etc.
I don't know how ThorMixer would stand in this rating, but I would love to see something like that.

I think this could be possible considering that you know the main addresses of the mixers.

Certainly there is a huge pile of coins in just a few addresses that each mixer hold.

However,  you can't be sure if each transaction is already a delivery of money to the customer or just some internal transaction to increase privacy.

Perfectly understood, but you mean to tell me that you've never pointed out a potential wrong doing of a user to the user on this forum or on some other forum else where?

I do not use mixers regularly. But whenever I need to mix my Bitcoins, I check the fees they charge and what type of anonymity they provide. Most of the mixers offer no logs these days and promise to provide maximum privacy. Some mixers even offer zero-fee mixing services (I am not sure if there are any services that provide free services at this moment) and depend on donations. But I believe OG Bitcoiners always prefer Better service no matter what the fees are.

Free mixer? I only know a few mixers that offer a trial for users to experience, with the condition that they send an exact amount of BTC to the mixer and only need to pay transaction fee for BTC network. That's part of a marketing campaign and a way to reach new users, it's not a feature because Mixers need revenue to continue existing and serving users.

Depending on each person needs, the Mixer fee can be considered expensive or cheap, but as you said, paying a few % for cleaner and more anonymous BTC is actually worth it. I'm willing to pay up to 5% to get clean BTC and the safety of my CEX accounts from the risk of being frozen due to accusations related to dirty BTC ^^

Sure, I never said we need to know exact numbers and true volume of all mixers, but some estimates would be good to have.
Right now all we have to rate mixers is year of release with activity in different forums, and feedback from customers.

Yes. Some mixers provided free services. All they took was the transaction fees, and donation to their service wasn't mandatory as well. Their entire business was dependent on the donations people made to their service. One of them is Chipmixer, which was in a great position before it got seized. One forum member who handled the campaign slowly faded away because of that incident. I saw another mixer that provided free service, but I cannot remember the domain name. They also ran their signature campaign on the Bitcointalk forum for a while. They had 50K DAI on escrow, but their website was closed at some point without any communication. We can say this was an exit scam.

The name was “whirlwind(.)money” - when they started their services they were collecting normal fee but as time went on they made it free and you could donate to them if you wish to, just as you said the donation wasn’t mandatory for anyone.

With the way they came to the forum and deposited into an escrow made everyone believe that they were going to replace chipmixer but all of a sudden people started complaining and they eventually stopped paying people. All those that were affected and made their case known to the community got a refund through the escrow.

Right. If I remember correctly, they had started a new system similar to staking where people could keep their Bitcoin, and they were getting some commissions depending on the amount they held. I don't particularly appreciate having a mixer account because mixers should not store mixing data.

I don't remember if there were too many victims who weren't able to complete their mixing when they stopped answering. Most of the victims' money was stuck because they kept it on that mixer account, mostly the signature payments. Luckily, they had some funds in escrow. I don't remember what happened then. But, having an option like staking in a mixer was a red flag.

If you mix a small amount of Bitcoins, for example 0.003 BTC, which is the minimum amount set by Thormixer, then you will end up with 30% less than the value you originally had. And in my opinion, this is too high a payment for pure Bitcoin. And this is because the team initially sets too high a transaction fee, which exceeds the current one several times. It would be great if the team heard this wish, so that the use of the mixer would also be available not only to holders of large amounts of BTC, but also to small customers.

Looking at all the mixers and their service fees, it is obvious that small transactions are not attractive and it is not to mix smaller amounts.

I'm not sure how realistic it is considering that Thor is Jambler's partner, so I believe that partnership has a lot of influence on the fee. Maybe it's always a lot for us as users when we have to pay a fee, while looking at it from the mixer's side, it doesn't seem like an excessive amount. The fee also helps maintain quality, so Thormixer offers mixed coins with a minimal AML risk score, which partially justifies the defined fee.
I certainly agree that there is room for thinking in the direction of correcting the fixed network fee.

The fact that Thormixer offers mixed coins with minimal AML risk should affect the Service fees, not the Network fee.

It's about quality. Quality is rarely accompanied by low cost.
