I looked at your offer Advertise on this forum - Bidding for - Jan 2024 for advertising and selling advertising space on the forum, I certainly agree that it is fine and it is one of the ways to help finance and maintain the work of this forum.

However, I have to point out that any offer to send an advertising PM or email to all users is, at the very least, an absolutely bad idea. I believe that we have all encountered this kind of spam, and probably we all have the same attitude towards it. I sincerely hope that you will completely withdraw this sort of offer. however, this forum should be a friendly environment.

I'd rather not get an email about a service offered, but it's not the end of the world if it happens. As long as it's controlled and my info isn't being sold I guess an email once a month is not so invasive.

actually it is so server intensive that we even avoid using it for our own announcements
thus this might happen once every blue moon,
and it will probably contain in addition to the ad , a small recap of changes on the forum.
But as i said, this is usually very rare. (maybe once every 4-5 month if there is demand, last year we sent only one newsletter i think, other years none)

It is terrible idea, especially receiving emails from third parties.
This would be consider spam in most places.

There is much higher risk of email leaks with this feature, so I would recommend using unique email address only for this forum, maybe even using email aliases.

You are right bro. I don't mind an email once a month or even once a week either,. I don't think this email package is selling anyway. at least I never received any promotional emails from Atlcoinstalk.

I think instead of Directly sending promotional emails, admins can create an email newsletter and put their client's ads there, this will also generate more engagements for their clients than a direct spammy promotional email.
with a little bit creativity forum admins can solve this problem without removing this package and also can generate good amount of revenue,

2- these emails do not go from 3rd party, they go as newsletter with important info that have been due to be sent to the users since sometime, a forum newsletter if you wish that contain a small ad.
3- this happens rarely: once a every few months, or once-twice a year ... given the amount of spam we receive from all the sites in general, a couple emails a year, not a big issue.
4- if you feel more comfortable, use a unique email, but keep in mind that it would make it more difficult for you to restore your account in case of forgot password, account hacked, etc ...

I don't know anything about the funds that this forum has, I believe it is nowhere near as rich as BTT, and that's why I will support almost any monetization model here. However, I am against sending advertising PMs and emails. It is certainly tolerable once or twice a year as you say.

I also don't know what the activity was like before the mixer saga and how much it changed after, I believe there is a significant difference. It is to be expected that there will be more activities, and only the quality can maintain such a level. This alone will bring more earning potential for the forum itself.

I understand what OP is talking about. An Ads like that would make people who are privacy cautious feel threathened of their privacy. They might feel their data is been sold to third parties. Informing like you just did would relax their nerves especially if said Ads would be checked by you before they are been sent.

A couple a year is barely anything. As long as whats been sent is regulated then i think is doable. Platforms like this needs funds to stay afloat.So the platform selling their service is normal.

Exactly that would help. The shorter a text the more ideas can be induce from it. You can just clarify that the info or ads would be regulated. And would be infrequent This i believe would put most(like me) at ease.

Email newsletter is fine for me as long it's not spammy and in regular basis and if using a email multiple sender with admin's own server. But if it's using a third party say sendmail, i guess our email is prone to get spammed by them sooner or later since they will get a copy of it.

I think it's better to receive such e-mails 4 times a year instead of receiving them on monthly basis. Although, I personally don't mind if I receive those messages on monthly basis but as admin mentioned that such e-mail operations are highly server intensive and that's why it's better to send such mails 4 or 2 times per year.

Personally, I do not see a big problem in receiving one email a month containing some news and promotional announcements to support the forum.

One email won't cause a big problem and you have the freedom to open the links or not, so I don't think it will be spam anyway.

The forum needs some financial support, and this is an ideal way to provide some of the money needed to keep the forum running and maintain its survival, in addition to advertisements for the mixers as well.

What about a welcome message? Something similar to the link above in the News section that contains a notification of paid ads. An account can get a notification to click on the link once a week instead of sending a PM. Most of us ignore emails, and almost all of us have registered using temporary email, so the idea will be more like a spam than a clever advertisement.

I also buy this idea, making it a quarterly offer is something well to put in consideration, people will not termed it as spam or even have a second thoughts about what it's intention could be aside what they expect, I see that sending PM is not even what matters most if not about the content, and in this case, I see it as a good idea to make every member get along with everything going on with the forum including the updates needed, at least when you receive a pm, it will notify you from your email.

I think this should clarify everyone's concerns regarding this matter, I already said I have no problem with emails once a week. and I never found Altcointalks' email to be spammy. in fact, they are very rare. other websites literally spam us with daily emails,
also after the new waves of Signature Campaigns and lots of users teleporting from bitcointalk. activity also increasing rapidly.  I think forum's banner ads could generate a lot more revenue.
Admin can use a cpm adverstiment service like Adsense or any crypto related one for that too.
