Your expectations for Polkadot in 2024

Yeah, luckily DOT is still holding its ground in the market. It's not forgotten, it's still being developed and mentioned in crypto media. That presence helps strengthen the belief of DOT holders despite the recent terrible price drop.

You do realize that holding its ground and terrible price drop in the same phrase about a coin are a bit contradictory, right?
I know you hold these coins while I do not, so obviously biased way of viewing things but a coin that benefits from a bull run only to dump immediately after it's over is hardly a coin in which development or adoption matter and more simply speculation.
3.5 pump to ten dollars then dump to 4.5, I woundn't want to be holding that for a long time.

Conversely, when I say DOT remains a top coin, I'm referring to its market cap still being around the #21 position. They're not contradictory: even though the DOT price has fallen significantly, it's still one of the top coins in this market.

I also don't want to suffer losses from DOT, and I've considered selling DOT to go back to BTC, but I think the amount of DOT I hold is only a few hundred $, and switching to BTC won't bring me much profit even if BTC reaches $150K this cycle. I'd rather bet on DOT success for the rest of this year.

And if you run the numbers against inflation corrected USD price, you're not going to like the outcome at all

I also know that the DOT price has dropped sharply and the DOT marketcap as well, but I still maintain an optimistic attitude when observing DOT price movements. DOT position in the market is still not too bad, at least from my point of view. The opportunity for DOT to return in this cycle is still there since we haven't even entered altseason yet.

Many DOT holders have abandoned DOT for other more attractive tokens, but I'm still staying with the Polkadot ecosystem and choosing a positive mindset instead of a negative one with the market. If DOT needs more time to accumulate, I'll let it have enough time before making an impressive price surge in altseason ^^

I don't have the exact numbers, but I believe Polkadot has quite a global fanbase thanks to its cross-chain technology. It's at least enough for DOT to not fade into oblivion this bullrun, especially since the Web3 Foundation has been trying hard to change how the crypto community views Polkadot.

Clearly, Polkadot needs to improve a lot of features, like having its own Layer-1, not just a Layer-0 dependent on users and investors cross-chain asset transfer needs. Parachain auctions used to be the main driver pushing DOT price up in the previous cycle, but it can't be reused in this cycle to push DOT price to a new ATH.

Hope that DOT won't let us down!

Ok, mate, what will be your expectation from it if its ETF will be approved? That is why we should make our targets accordingly after seeing the work on its ecosystem, because then we can predict being nearly more realistic. Now, tell me what your opinion is here for me.

You were fortunate to buy DOT at its low price range and haven't had to endure losses recently. Many other DOT holders, including myself, are experiencing more stress, but I believe that when altseason comes, DOT will also receive significant momentum to increase in price. At the very least, Polkadot is a promising project, not a memecoin that can easily be eliminated from the market.

As I presented in the topic, I hope DOT will reach a new ATH this year, but if things worsen, $20 is also a reasonable target for us to monitor and wait for. I will liquidate my ALTs when BTCUSD signals a trend reversal. I hope that at that point, I'll be taking profit instead of cutting losses on DOT.

Well, I know that Polkadot isn't seeing widespread use right now, as the demand for cross-chain isn't large enough, and the market has seen many other cross-chain solutions emerge to compete with Polkadot Para-Relay chain technology.

Web3 Foundation really needs to do something to bring Polkadot closer to users and investors. Technological advantages alone can't determine a project's success and token price appreciation. DOT needs marketing, DOT needs to participate in the major trends in the market before being forgotten in a constantly evolving space.

Well, mate, you have really given a good opinion, but a question has arisen in my mind that, as you said,"Have you seen what the ETF has done for ETH?" We have seen ETH above 3.2k, and it is not ATH yet, and altseason has also not yet started in my point of view. I am talking about the market condition besides the ETF of altcoins. Because I believe that market condition also matters a lot in all that.

Although we have enjoyed some good rallies in the altcoins, but we are still far away in all accumulated projects from our target points. This is just a point of view, mate, and I also respect your POV as well. Your further suggestions are highly welcome to me, mate.
