Agree, if things won't go as plan then it should affect us mentally. If it involves a lot of money then for sure you will be affected mentally so better to think twice or thrice before putting large amount of money into gambling so that we will not be affected mentally.
it will definitely affect your mental health if the amount of money you gambled is the amount of money you can't afford to lose

if this amount of money will affect your life drastically then you should not be using it for risky things such as gambling because even if there is a chance of winning, the risk is still too high for you to take the chance of losing your money that would shake your financial stability

Gambling really affects mental health in so many ways because when all your hopes and resources you use in gambling doesn't come out the way you wants it to be it will have an effect on you especially when you lose money that is huge and you don't have money in that particular point in time it has a way of affecting you psychologically this is the more reason that you should not bet what you can't afford to lose because lossing could be depressing some times because  hopes and expectations are high and when it doesn't go as you have planned it, it takes a negative effects on your mental health stability

In this day and age mental health is something expensive, especially if it is combined with gambling which can make everything worse. I agree with you, if it is low intensity gambling or we do not get into trouble, then it will not affect mental health. However, if it is excessive gambling, then it will greatly affect mental health.

But who could say the mental health of a person is already in a condition that we could consider addicted crazilly in gambling?

Because one person I have talked with seem like a gambling addict already. He gamble one night and then the next night he just sits watching people play and talk like a normal person as well. They don't show signs of distress though but they only have problems in gambling.

If a gambler gambles excessively, then there is a high chance of his health deteriorating. Especially those who become addicted to gambling. Addicted gamblers do not have a specific time to gamble and do not care about their body or interests. They think about gambling most of the day and night. They do not even take their meal properly. At some point, their health risks increase. However, if gambling is played within control, there is no big negative effect.

For gambling to affect our mental health it's assumed such person(s) are spending much time in the casino house than he should spend out there resting.
In gambler, if someone wants to have a complete state of mind they should avoid and regulate how the spend on the gambling house or casino sites most times when our brain are being focused on a particular thing it gradually affects our mind and overall life performance.

Practical if you want to know if gambling affects mental health or not I think you just have to go to a mental health facility and do your findings. Then you will discover that so many mad people on the street are unrepentant gamblers. If there sanity is restored they will still gamble

Yes, it affects the mental health due to psychological reason but also it causes some chemical changes due to the dopamine secretion but not much compared to other addiction so most causes are due to psychological impact not really due to betting activity. So how to save us which is simple don't bet more than you afford to lose and if you can't lose anything at all then just don't bet.

Someone who has a strong desire to quit gambling, he should be proud when he can really leave gambling.. there is no more mental health disorder because he left with pride..

Different from someone who has a deep love for gambling, he will feel that gambling is a part of his life... and when gambling is lost from his life habits, it will damage the person's mentality..

So IMO what affects a person's mental health is how much the person wants...

By playing gambling a man’s mind and brain hardly crashes. And it continues to have many kinds of effects of their daily life. And physical and mental changes occur and it becomes much difficult for him when he wants to get out of gambling.
A person who addicted to gambling for a long time can never leave this habit. And the one who wins in gambling then comes to mind and wants to be addicted to gambling again.
It’s really important that people will take precautions during gambling and take necessary steps to get rid of that addiction.

it will definitely affect your mental health if the amount of money you gambled is the amount of money you can't afford to lose

Addiction is a big problem to mental health and web en you don't gamble responsible, you might end up as an addict due to excessive gambling. This is why we must gamble in the lowest minimal to avoid losing big and become victims to addiction.

Paying much attention to control over developed habits is something that need to be considered so they will not have a negative effect. However, an activity if can be done without bounds, then the risk may be higher and may affect different aspects of human life. Thus, understanding defining state is something that produces positive effects both for the self and the emerging environment. That being said, we do not need such excitement within our lives, and do not wish to be made to shoulder decisions which are less managed. The self-regulation of the conduct we display in all matters, including with regards to use, time, and money, is used to spare ourselves from getting into troubles in the coming years. With every more precise call, more comfort and well-being will be ensured for ourselves and for the people with whom we interact.

The key is in ourselves. I think we should be able to realize important things like this, because it is very much related to ourselves. The logic is that we must understand ourselves, because no one is as good as ourselves to understand what is inside.
But indeed in this case it is also difficult, because sometimes some people also do not know themselves well.

Gambling does affect mental health. If there are recorded cases of death after a gambling loss, what do you expect if one loses a game they already have in mind to win, maybe all their hope is banked on a particular game to favor them but the reverse was the case. This is why gamblers are advised to gamble responsibly and not for profit but rather for fun and in moderation so that what ever the result be, it would not affect them.

Re: Does gambling affect mental health?
« Reply #59 on: January 30, 2025, 06:36:32 PM »

Addiction is a big problem to mental health and web en you don't gamble responsible, you might end up as an addict due to excessive gambling. This is why we must gamble in the lowest minimal to avoid losing big and become victims to addiction.
And when there is addiction there is no other remedy but to attack the problem however it may be in order to heal little by little. It is imperative that the person also does their part so that things turn out well and the healing process begins. As long as a person remains addicted and gambling, the problems will increase more and more. One must detoxify immediately by stopping gambling for as long as necessary. It is not easy, it is hard, but seeing all the possible solutions, if there is good will on the part of the affected person, that is the best.
