I tend to fall into this materialism temptations so I keep telling myself lately that my needs are minimal — those being food, water, clothing, internet (it has become a necessity, don't it?) and shelter (although, this one can be costly), eveything else is unnecessary.
The less needs I have, less I own, less burden I feel.
I also hate maintaining things, so if I don't own a thing in first place, I won't have to maintain it, although if something adds significant value to my life, and requires some maintenance along the way, it's alright.
