Most times, these private firms want the government to lead by example before they implement anything because the government do not take things Seriously and the private sector knows this so they don't bother because the government is never serious and would not bother them.
This is very true. You shouldn't expect the firms under the private sector to pay above what they can afford to pay all in the name of meeting up to the minimum wage. The private sector also suffers the illness of the system too and they are run for profit also.

Infact the kind of job and it's sector actually determines if the pay should be up to the minimum wage or not because a low budget private sector doesn't even have enough workforce to warrant a minimum wage.

Infact the kind of job and it's sector actually determines if the pay should be up to the minimum wage or not because a low budget private sector doesn't even have enough workforce to warrant a minimum wage.

You also have a great input to this but don’t forget that some private sectors make use of their workers much more than what they’re paying them as wages monthly. Some private sectors even when they can afford the minimum wage won’t want to do it because of their greediness.

They want the maximum input into their works but won’t listen to the hearings of their workers because they feel they don’t have a choice and there is no job outside for them. Those are what they leverage on and I don’t blame them but the failed system that hasn’t provided enough work for its citizens to enjoy from.

Those that can pay should be forced to pay while their that can’t should at least give them in equivalent to the effort they’ve putting in. With the rise in minimum wage, everything will begin to skyrocket and they’ll adjust to the current minimum wage payment of civil servants which is bad and market people are find wanting more with this kind of behavior.

Yes, I fully agree with you, in private sector the wages are quite low and the workers who work at hose private sectors might get less than 1/3rd of minimum wage. The ones who join such sectors have no option as they have to earn bread and butter for their family.

Minimum wage in Nigeria it can lead to job loss, as the employers can afford to pay workers high wages. It can lead businesses to move overseas, where labour cost are cheap. Some people argue about the high minimum wage that it can lead to inflation, as the business may pass the cost of higher wages to consumers in form of high price. Additional higher minimum wage can help to reduce poverty and improve standard living. The main concern about minimum wage it causes job loss, as the employer's may not be able to afford to pay their worker's.Do you think these concerns will bring benefits of the minimum wage?

Minimum wage isn't the way to alleviate poverty right now in Nigeria, doing that only is the same thing as going round in circles because it's not going to make any significant change. The cost of things must be reduced before thinking about increasing the minimum wage. Right now in Nigeria what an average household spends in a week is more than that wage they are increasing it to, the inflation is the main thing that should be tackled
I think controlling inflation could help reduce the cost of living  and make the minimum wage effective.  By addressing the root causes of poverty and implementation a comprehensive approach, Nigeria might be able to make some significant progress in alleviating poverty

True, that some private sectors overwork their staff, but it is left for the staff to place a demand for their welfare package if they want to, in consonance with their input. Unfortunately, the system is so bad that workers going through such a terrible experience can not speak up for fear of being sacked, because if such happens, it would be very difficult to secure a job because of the current situation in the country so everybody is just holding onto their jobs very tight, irrespective of what they go through, they say "a half baked bread is better than none". This is the reason why it seems that some people would still stay with organisations that overwork them, because of job security, as no one wants to make the mistake of leaving their job at a moment when there are no organisations out there recruiting.

I think controlling inflation could help reduce the cost of living  and make the minimum wage effective.  By addressing the root causes of poverty and implementation a comprehensive approach, Nigeria might be able to make some significant progress in alleviating poverty

On the poverty aspects there is no way we are go to expect the government to look into it because not now and not today those suffering started, though your suggested solution will served well if the inflation is cut down in respect for any amount to be worth using for purchase. Meanwhile i think the minimum wage was for only NYSC because I don't think public workers have started receiving their money or have they? Because I have not ask any government workers about it to no but whichever way those money is nothing without eradication of the inflation.

Just the NYSC that are receiving the minimum wage the other civil servants I don’t think they are receiving theirs already and it been some months now since when the government said they will add to the civil servants and nothing yet. But i guess maybe some other states have been receiving their minimum wages but in relation to my state none civil servants have received shits, what a nation.
