This topic arose from a discussion I had with a friend. My friend is into Ice Hockey betting but has been throwing his tickets away without knowing that he won some of those tickets. He always plays “Winner (including overtime and penalties) which means regular winning, overtime and even penalties counts to decide the winner” and this option is different from “1x2 which means only regular time result counts to decide the winner” but he has always conflicted these different options and this has caused him some of his winnings.



The worst of this is the fact that he gambles offline and that makes it so difficult to know when he wins. Even after I told him this he argued and so I had to open my Sportybet history to show him. I showed him games that ended in a draw in the regular time but won in overtime and it was marked green for me. It was then he believed.

I have not personally had such an experience but of course if you bet on something you have to know how to check correctly if you have won any bets.

Your friend is the best client for casino, because he does not care about money. For me it sounds ridiculous when someone spends money on something he does not understand. I would never do that. For example I have little understanding what is Asian handicap. I dont even plan to find it out. I would never place bets using them.

He couldn’t even wait for me to advise him to create an online account. He quickly asked me to create an online account for him and teach him how to navigate the site. That I did. I also showed him how to fund his account and then advised him not to gamble more than necessary and that he shouldn`t be carried away with the fact that he can conveniently place a bet at any time and then use all his money for gambling and I added that he should set a limit and stick to it. I have done my bit as a friend. It is now left for him to adhere to it.

Yeah OP's friend is lucky he cared for his friends gambling activities. Though we can say that not all gamblers are tech savvy or the like but it is really important for us to familiarize the platform we are using same with trading sites. If OP did not check those winning tickets I know that one day OP's friend will regret for not know how to check his bets. 😅 It actually happened to my uncle where he throw away lottery tickets without checking but his cousin save him as his cousin was curious about the ticket in the dust pan and then he picked it and check the combinations and to their surprise they got 5 combinations correct and they exchanged it for how much it's worth I just forgot the exact amount but I guess that was more or less $2k. And that serves as a lesson for my uncle.

You are right. The basic thing is to understand the sports and options before beginning to gamble but unfortunately, some gamblers just imply meanings to those options without making an effort to find out if their interpretation of the option is what it is. Personally, when I come across certain options I don’t understand, I must first research on the option to know what it stands for before adding it to my selection if need be.

Believe it not but I have had lucky days for not understanding the betting option and when match ended thinking it was a burst but it's settled as a winner... sometimes misunderstanding does pay and this has happened to me on several occasions.

In this day and age why would anyone punish themselves with these physical betting slips which deny you several benefits such as cashouts, no cases of a lost betslip etc come on guys let's embrace the technology that exists to make life easier

It would be strange if we bet on a bet that we don't understand. In sports betting, for example, if we are too lazy to find out for ourselves what the rules of betting are, we can ask friends who already understand it, or we can find out via the search page, because now there are so many people discussing it.

I also initially only bet on who would win, before I knew the options available. But slowly I can understand how the options given on the page work before we bet.

I think people who gamble or bet on different teams understand this kind of equation very well. Understanding betting options has nothing to do with being an expert. A gambler should understand the betting option before placing a bet on it. The reason is so that you know when you are winning and when you are losing. Imagine that you are happy that you are winning whereas you are losing and getting angry that you are losing whereas you are winning. There are a plethora of betting options, especially for gamblers into sports betting and so understanding the different options can help a gambler make better predictions because when you have a firm grasp of the betting options, it becomes easier to know teams that are likely to produce such options. For instance, my favourite option for any Arsenal match is Over 8.5 corners and I have recorded 90% winning with this option.

By choosing the right type of bet based on my knowledge and analysis of the event, I increase my chances of winning and securing higher payouts. Most likely your friends doesn't have the experience in betting? I just ask because how can you make those kind of mistakes? I mean everyone started without any knowledge but as we mature and gain that experience, we learn and we re-tool. So you are saying that he only knows how to bet the ML only? Or he did try like the 1x2 but he didn't know it's meaning. But what the heck, I'm going to fire some money and see if it's a win or not? It's good though that you have corrected him, or at least let him know the difference so the next time he won't waste that kind of money.
