We can't categorise the Gambling under sports but in the Gaming, usually women is less interested in gaming and the same goes to Gambling too apart from that they are psychologically conservative so they see Gambling as waste of their hard earned money but there are exceptions to it as well.

Yes it's true that majority of people involved in gambling are mostly men this is because men has more responsibility than the women as it's the responsibility of the man to provide for the family and one way that many man sees to generating money in taking care of their families is by gambling as they see gambling as an extra or alternative source of income in supporting their families

I think the male gender  are gamblers by nature. There may not be a scientific theory to justify my claim.
