Why do people get negative karma on this forum?

So far, I've only once reached for negative karma and that for someone who didn't even bother to read a few posts and understand what it was about, but his entire post was focused only on the title. Each of us can subjectively evaluate what is a good or bad post for him, but I think that negative karma is something that should be used to warn members when they constantly do something they shouldn't.

Considering that I am not one of those who like to punish people in any way, I will always apply negative karma only as a last resort.

Good idea. AltcoinsTalks is a friendly forum and we tend to give positive karma much more often than negative one. So better to leave this option for really bad and disrespecting cases. As for me, ignoring the discussion thread and answering just the topic title can be disrespecting towards other users enough, so I agree with this your point.

Op there are different reasons one can have negative karma in this forum and I believed others have done justice for that but let me add my. Someone can follow all the rules and regulations of the forum but if the comments or the topic is  shit post, he would have negative karma because others would not like topic. Then if your behavior towards others is not good that is if you have bad behavior you will have negative karma. And to avoid all that you have to play save. Be respectful, be polite avoid attacking people. Then you are save.

This answer is very simple and easy to understand because this question is very common for me personally. If I misinterpret it then it might be a blunder for me but this is just my personal opinion.

Here there is no need of any kind of credentials to give and receive karma due to which anyone can misuse karma giving. So i don't want any kind of abuse in giving karma. Positive karma should be given to those who share helpful and important things with everyone. By doing this, his incentive to post will double. However, if you see a post that offends other users, you can give negative karma. If you have a lot of karma then it is your earned power so always use it properly.

They can try. I saw at least two cases of karma misuse recently: one account lost a right of giving karma, another one got a warning and can lose this option if will insist on abusing the system. Misuse of karma is totally not supported on the forum.

Right, each time you give karma it should be reasonable, doesn't matter if +karma or -karma. You should clearly understand why this exact post deserves that karma. There are many forum users who use the karma giving option and total majority understands that enough. There are just single separate cases of karma abuse. So no need to worry too much, but it's better to stay within reason.

Comparatively, karma highlights many positive aspects of an account, such as the activity, post quality and many think of that account. So there are people who will abuse their power and give karma to everyone as they wish. Since there is no accountability system for giving karma so anyone will give negative karma as wish. In my opinion there is a need to take swift action in this matter and introduce the issue of giving and receiving karma to everyone.

Altcoinstalks is a friendly forum, we all tend to give much more positive karma than negative one. We encourage good posters to share interesting content. And if there are some few bad actors on the forum, only them should get some negative karma.

People get negative karma on this forum because they do not follow the rules of the forum...
There are different layers down rules and consequences for failure to comply to the rules, that are being stated in this forum.

You are right, every community or forum that is standing tall and waxing strong has a strong terms and policy that is being adhered to by th community membere. When a platform doesn't have a rule that is guiding it, it can force it's members to act in any manner they please which can either give the platform a reputation. I really believe that this community is fair enough, anyone that receives a negative karma must have caused it upon themselves.

It’s true this is a very friendly community trying to make life here easy for everyone, despite having broken certain laws you still have the chance to redeem yourself by making good contribution to the community. Not all communities offer such second chances, just prove to people you have changed your ways and when others appreciate your efforts with +karma it will counter the -karma received until the end.

It’s a good idea but some people might just want to take this chance for granted and do what they please thinking they will change later and counter the -ve Karma later on.
