i have never heard of anyone relaxing after gambling lol it is exciting and often frustrating sometimes anxiety inducing and if you lose all your money you will most likely end up in a depressed state but i don’t think we should be focusing in the beneficial aspects of gambling to an individual to assess the economy but rather look at the bigger picture

If the gambling platform is to improve the economy or make any positive impression then it must be foolish. Perhaps a gambler is earning too much from gambling or a large population is dependent on it, which is not a positive development to consider. Because gambling is paying today who can take that money back tomorrow. So it is not possible to develop financially through gambling. However, if the gambling platforms pay regular taxes to the government, then the government can increase the interest there. Which is a positive aspect of the government. The potential for tax revenues and opening jobs for the citizens is an old song that is re-orchestrated to justify the legalization of gambling. 
But we never talk about the impact of gambling which is so damaging to society. Such as getting into debt due to gambling addiction, disturbing mental health, and even suicide.

I know very few names of countries that legalize gambling and keep it tax free. Because as far as I have seen, among the countries in the world that have legalized gambling, most of them put gambling agencies or gambling companies under a high tax rate, which will result in a huge amount of tax. And that will definitely have a positive influence on the economy of a country. And I think this is how gambling influences the economy of a country.

my government does support addiction victims but are only limited to just consumer assistance and just helplines afaik. for a country that has a large population of gamblers since, it has to be more than that. gambling is part of the culture already.

Op I strongly disagree with you. Online gambling has a very good positive impact in a Country economy. Online gambling casinos. I am from Nigeria and casinos in the country paying tax constantly. And apart from paying tax. The money that is circulating in the gambling space is also increasing the economic impact in the country.

If gambling would disappear overnight would all that money that people play with also disappear?

Because most gamblers do not achieve success, maybe there is, but most of them fail and eventually end up bankrupt, regret, debt everywhere, end up in crime, domestic violence, theft, and so on. Maybe you don't know that online gambling pays its tax to the Nigerian government. There's no way online gambling will exist on its own without the government being aware of it. The government will be aware in case of any problem that comes out from online gambling with its customers; the government will know how to step in and resolve it. Not paying tax alone will be a big problem on its own that a company wouldn't like to be found guilty of that in the hands of the government.

Having said that, not being able to pay taxes means that online gambling is to be closed and stopped functioning because no online gambling will be functioning without the license of the government, showing they are up to date with the tax payment
