I agree. But displaying just + karma would be positive imo. It would give more transparency and also incentive good posts.

True, I agree with you, in fact sites like YouTube have eliminated dislikes.  I dont know if it is a good thing or a bad thing, but in this case I dont watch the video and leave a dislike, I have no incentive.  I dont look at it and move on and finish.  Likes are used to monitor whether people liked the video, dislikes are useless.

THere are still big communities like Reddit which show negative points. But I understand, this is a friendly community and I see no reason to show -karma

Reddit is becoming worse every day, now they started to ban people from even browsing posts if they are not logged in and if they are using VPN or Tor.
I think Karma system in AltcoinsTalks forum needs to be updated or I will never use it as much as I would.
There are many times I wanted to give Karma + or - to someone, but I couldn't do it because I already did it few hours ago.
High ranked members should not have limitations like that.

I also think people would give more karma of we know they are giving. And if we know who is not giving any karma at all..

I often send karma to good posts/posters, sometimes I mention it as +1 while most of the times I just send the karma and never mention it. I think it would be helpful to know who gives karma as that would allows others to send karma too if they like your posts/threads. I also believe that 10 hours 1 karma restriction should be reduced to 4 hours/1 karma.

I have lately started giving positive karma like you to this post that deserves one. I was not sure what karma is but later realized that it is somewhat similar to the merit system on BTT but you do not need to earn it to give someone. I do not think the restriction part should be changed because it can be manipulated if someone wants to do it, I think the 10-hour gap is quite good.

I, on the other hand, think that it is a good rule and that it should be kept as it is. The reason is that every Senior + member can give an unlimited number of karma points, and there is no doubt that on this forum we have a lot of alts accounts that abuse karma. Of course, this does not prevent them from giving themselves karma, but they are still limited to 1 karma/10 hours.

When we get an insight into which posts get karma, I have no doubt that there will be a lot of work for the admin - because some members obviously use karma as a like button but not in the sense of "you wrote a good post" but "you are my friend so I give you +karma".

The dude is trying over here. This has been a encouraging thread to many to do well so that their names will appear here and people have been doing well in the forum. The first time when the thread was created the performance was not like the second month of the thread and every month people work hard to earn legit and good karma to enter this list. I really appreciate PX-Z on this and other works he has been doing. It was today that I saw the altcoinstalks forum statistics and it is very nice.

I also appreciate this initiative for the same reason, its called positive reinforcement.  When training a horse to hold the saddle you can do it brutally or you can do it gently with positive reinforcement.
Clear with positive reinforcement you put in more time, but the time spent is repaid by lack of stress.  I see the same thing to improve the quality of the forum.

Yes, and we see our names, we are being motivated to really give our best when posting and hope that someone will recognized or it is somewhat very helpful to others. So far though, we are a very close knit families, I mean this is not as big as the other community. But still we see familiar names and so we are familiar with their posting habits and so we give karma as well. And again, thanks to PX-Z for this great effort o him to see those karma and we will continue for more quality posts.

But that would allow for Karma farms to grow, where the "farmer" (in this case, the Hero/Legendary members) give as much merit as they want to a list of "farmed" newbie accounts to make them Member or something, or even slowly make them Full Member.

And since the alt-account busters have not teleported to Altcoinstalks, it's going to be much harder to find them. AFAIK, I don't think Altcoinstalks shows you a history of sent/received karma.

admin can see the karma log, I'm not sure to what level, it's quite possible even connected IP addresses. There was already a case where he deleted all karma points for 4 connected accounts due to farming. All accounts received certain forum marks. So there is an arrangement.

The problem is that the user paid for one account to be "cleaned", which made the purpose of punishment meaningless. The policy is that you can do what you want, here you always get (or pay for) a second chance.
