In addition, I think it is wrong to compare social networks and their "likes" with the karma system - because here we should reward the content, not exclusively the user who creates some content.

Well, that's true, but if a user writes good content then we get some feeling to give some positive karma to such users. I also believe that someone's content speaks for his/her knowledge and giving karma to useful posts made by someone is going to be helpful.

I personally know some people who make very good and informative posts and that's why I believe when I find a useful post by those users then sending karma to them can be a good step to support them.

That's great to hear, this is actually my motivation on creating those tools, appreciation from different users aside from me getting more experience on developing.
As for giving -karma, i can't remember using it these days, i just do and give positive one.

Your tool is really very useful, although I would prefer that mod that I asked for, being able to tune the days with a query string, instead of 3, 1 or 2 would be useful

I think people are too careless when posting online... It is worth dedicating some time for post formatting.

I saw that too in the raffle threads lol. Also, a user that posts with red huge text which happens to be annoying but with all i said said earlier so i just leave it and didn't give -ve karma.

In this case you did well if he does it more than once and continues after you explain it to him.
If you haven't done it, that is, if you haven't explained it, it's also a good idea to explain to him how education on the forums works.
You will be surprised to know that many do not know this.
Then one less karma, no one dies.
I took many of them when I didn't know how to write on reddit and on stackoverflow, it happens.

babo you are correct, karma should be given to those who are deserving of it, such as those that help this growing forum to grow faster and keep the engagement active all the time, bitmover and PX-Z are top receiver of + karma for many of us and you can see that from the total earned + karma in they profile which is a prove of their dedication to service in this forum and even on bitcointalk.

Since karma is free, and I can gift it to them and others who deserve my + karma as a encouragement for their service to us I feel my action are justifiable, negative karma if need be is should only be used to punish spammers, which is likely unused most times, since majority of the active member here on altcoinstalks.com are already familiar with us alfrom bitcointalk.org so giving + karma becomes as easy as anything.

I agree with the both of you guys, because as long as there is an up vote there will be a downvote also this is to serve different purposes, while up vote is given to posts that are informative a d add value to the discussion, downvote in meant to stop spammers from invading the forum and keeping them away to provide clearner informative community for everyone.

What make this forum unique in particular is the fact that majority of the members of  this forum already, are familiar with each other due to bitcointalk.org transported accounts which allows for mentaining your user names on both community, making us at home with ourselves.

when someone on the forums bothers me, after a bit of annoyance I stop replying and even reading -> I use the IGNORE button and bye

babo you are very correct with dealing babo the throws both online and offline, you can never see me get caught up in an argument, if I notice that there is any need to argue, I do two things which are:

1: I simply tell them you are right.

2: I disappear from them, the forum gives us easy feature to stay off such throws, ignoring and stop arguing kills the throw faster than a bullet.
