Will Cryptocurrencies be accepted in a Civil War Scenario?

this is why we must still keep our bitcoin then but i doubt that internet will be still available in all places when war comes, maybe this is for limited chances only .

I have already tried several times to open the eyes of dreamers about the "convenience of bitcoin in critical situations" - it becomes the most useless asset if you are in the territory where there is a war. Civil or due to external aggression....
I say this as a person living in a country that has been subjected to external aggression and where 20% of the territory is a war zone.... So I tell my mother-in-law - there cryptocurrency has no value.... Cash, food, gasoline, weapons have value. Bitcoins? How are you gonna keep yourself alive with them?!

PS Watch the movie "20 days in Mariupol" - basically a documentary about a city in my country, the city of Mariupol, which was attacked by a neighboring country, and you will understand what a real war looks like, and whether in such a situation there is at least a minimal possibility to use cryptocurrency....

You've described the most optimistic scenario possible. But there are nuances here too - if you are lucky to save your life, the question remains - to save and export the data to recover the wallet data. If it is a physical medium - with a very high probability it can be a "point of failure". Once again - many people do not visualize war as it actually happens. I know a lot of people who literally ran away in one piece of clothing, because their house was completely destroyed before their eyes, and the territory continued to be shelled with artillery, MLRS, aerial bombs - a 500 kilogram aerial bomb completely destroys a house....
In such a situation, there are no thoughts about saving "physical assets", there is only one goal - just to have time to run away, leaving everything...

well the civil war is not happening yet. but there are people who are predicting it will happen actually. which means you have the time to prepare where to store your BTC in case you wanna cross border. i guess you just have to sleep with your hardware wallet all time lol

the crazy part of this civil war, is that the group who killed the president are somewhat like heroes. dam just a crazy world we got into.
movies like this where a man killing the president hailed hero i think will be banned in my country. and to imagine how divided the US as for now, this is a crazy movie.

the election often times divide the country especially now that they sentenced Trump. the far right will be furious about this and there seem to be funding flowing to Trump's campaign.  and then the support for cryptocurrency is also growing. anyone seeing this as if its paving  the way to such situation?

i could be wrong of course. but in my country, this is somewhat possible as well because of the division and one political party especially the south is threatening to separate the government.

I think it's will be good to see crypto currencies been accepted during civil war's situation where banks and other important services are closed making it hard to have physical cash and where to buy something along the road it will give birth to a new other which everyone will turn to crypto currency as the last resort, but hey that's a movie we are talking about so it will be very difficult for it to be in real life situation and even if it happens it will all depends on the government of the day weather they will permit the use of crypto currency

In that kind of situation I think the warlords would gladly accept Bitcoin without thinking twice, that is if they already know about it. Cause they can misplace cash at anytime but with Bitcoin transaction, it will be safe for them.
But the factor to consider is if the country they are accepts such currencies for instance if they are in china it might be complicated.

Accepting bitcoin and other form of cryptocurrency will be better during such period, because no one will be able to rob you of your funds, and you can have millions but no one will know that it is withing your reach. In civil war banks can disappoint us but as long as there is internet and phones, crypto cannot disappoint.

Yeah crypto's can not disappoint in times like this but in that  instance physical money are also needed cause sometimes not everyone may accept crypto currencies, and maybe crypto also may not be legal where the war is taking place.

Some years back, around 2021 when Iran was fuming with US that led to the killing of one of their general spy, things like gold, guns and Bitcoin were running up fastly and this because in war, there is money and the money goes to things that readily available that's why crypto is general language that everyone will understand when there is a war.

There might be some restrictions if there is a connection actually, some exchanges were banning some users accounts and restricting them of there money from the exchanges after it was alleged that the coins were from terrorism funding. This is one of the disadvantages of using centralized exchanges to hold coin during wars.

civil war today will probably the same as what was depicted in the movie Civil War 2024.  there are people already speculating for it to happen whoever wins the US election.  there will always be states that will not honor the election process and will turn the region as separatist when they can't see benefit to the leadership either Kamala or Trump.

Do you think that crypto can't be stolen? Especially in a civil war scenario? Where people will first shoot you then ask you to give you their money?
How many cases have we already seen of robbers beating their victims till they disclose all their keys and wallets? You realize robbers will just have to hit you till you give them the keys and after that keep hitting you to tell them more keys in case you have, they don't care that you don't actually own more, they will just keep doing it till you either fell unconscious or you give them all.

Besides, as civil war and actual wars have proven, cash is king, if it were for crypto you would see people actually using it but that's not the case.
Why take crypto when next bomb can bring down your generator and you have no way of spending those coins?

It's better to think about what is possible than having a thought of what is not possible.

In the middle of a war, I don't think there will be electricity or internet accessibility for people to make sure of. If both electricity and internet connection can be accessible, you won't call that war because war is the destruction of both living and nonliving things. The country where the war is happening will be in a total blackout and shutdown. Nothing will be moving "economically or technologically." People will be more interested in how they will be safe and think of ways to survive. For someone's Bitcoin storage, they will think of where to hide their seed phrase, like underground or so.

A country with no electricity running means they're all in a mess. They wouldn't be able to make business and no internet as well. No BTC or altcoin transactions in the country, it will be isolated to the rest of the world.

best case scenario is you keep your funds safe in your wallet whether hot or cold and eventually get access to it when things get better

worst case scenario your wallet ends up getting destroyed in the process i don’t think exchanging them is the priority in a war but just keeping it safe would be enough

Due to high inflation and stuff during a civil unrest people will start accepting any form of currency that is apart from fiat thta is why precious metals and cryptocurrency are one of the best option in this kind of scenario though cryptocurrency is for me the safest one here and has an edge comapred to having physical silver and gold the only problem here is the adoption because like for example here in my place I don't know how many people are using crypto and I am sure only few of us are holding it and that is quite a downside due to limited supplies we can trade with as I know majority here still prefer to use fiat in exchange for goods and services.
