It's a really memorable event. If he hadn't used bitcoin to buy pizza that day, bitcoin wouldn't have started and maybe people wouldn't have started showing much interest in bitcoin.  And if nothing like that happened that day, it is doubtful whether we would have seen Bitcoin at such a level. Yes, the creator of Bitcoin had the goal of making Bitcoin to the point where people could use it as an alternative to money. so it might have been massively publicized either way. I think that only those who don't have much BTC would scoff at Laszlo Heinitz's decision to use BTC to buy pizza. This first invoice opened up the value of BTC in the economy, meaning that BTC could be used to pay for goods and services in the real world. If there were no similar actions, if everyone wanted to keep BTC in their accounts, the BTC market would not exist and BTC would continue to have no value.

I am glad that Laszlo Heinitz continues to be successful and wealthy thanks to BTC and his vision. As long as BTC exists, we will continue to remember Laszlo Heinitz every year, something that many great people cannot achieve.

Instead of felling some regret, we should instead celebrate maybe by also buying a box of pizza and if possible using our BTC wallet.

Yeah, I think it's difficult to expect nothing less than people laughing or criticizing his decision to buy pizza with Bitcoin. A lot of people like to trash others nowadays, especially on the internet. I dunno why, maybe because they're too stressed with real-life problems and the internet is their place to vent. Fortunately, I've seen many people celebrate this historic day with something positive like doing quizzes, contests, and so on. You can't have a circular economy without spending some money at the early stage. That's exactly why bitcoin was able to grow, but many shitcoins just plummeted to zero as people were either HODLing them without spending them or they all dumped their bags at the same time.

I'm pretty sure even if he hadn't spent all these Bitcoins on pizza, I don't believe he would have saved them until today when one BTC is worth $69k. This would only happen if he did not have access to the wallet for years

A. Bitcoin as a currency is meant to be spent. Those 10,000 BTC made it back into the economy fairly quickly, around the time they were worth some $400. A ~10x ROI from simply trading in a different currency is quite good, even if that factor could have been higher had I held on to said currency longer.
