First and foremost, we are not anymore using the term ICO or Initial Coin Offering because of the chaos and scams that happened in 2017 to 2018 where many people got victimized by projects made by fraudsters and scammers for the purpose of getting money from the public and then just bid goodbye when their greed were filled to the max. As of now, there are many ways a crypto-based project can be promoted and you can even easily find platforms whose main interest is promoting projects to the targeted audience. And you can find them using Google. Now, if you are planning to start your own crypto platform, I am advising that you take a serious look at the things you can contribute to the market and then start building a team that can make things more solid and viable before even taking money from possible investors. You can even choose to airdrop the coins and tokens to qualitied participants and then work to make those be traded in different exchanges while working to make the whole platform gain more traction in the market and be valuable....and this is surely a win-win situation for all stakeholders. Right now, we are seeing an avalanche of so many projects most especially memecoins and then a year from now we can find out many of them are already dead...don't be like that!

Whenever I see someone promoting a new project under "ICO", the first thing I think is that this person froze in 2017. All methods from the ICO period are inactive today, so there are no more relevant services where new ICO projects are published. In other words, such services may still exist, but they are minor and have no influence, so they cannot contribute to the success of the project.

I think nowadays many developers prefer launchpad to sell their initial tokens. They carry the Binance name which is predicted to be their insurance when the sales period is over, there will be a big possibility for them to list the related coins on Binance. This method is a little more interesting than ICO, because at least investors can sell their tokens back after buying, which means there is the potential for them to make a profit when Binance starts listing the related coins.

We have ICO - projects that self-conduct fundraising events, IDO - fundraising on DEXs, IEO - fundraising on CEXs, ILO - fundraising on liquidity... ICO still exists in the form of token sales on Launchpads. We have many launchpads, but the most popular in the previous cycle was Coinlist. I'm not sure if Coinlist will continue to bring many good projects in this cycle, but for now IEOs on Binance launchpad are being chosen by many new projects in the market because of Binance's reputation and the opportunity to reach Binance CEX's hundreds of millions of users. I think investors can completely choose new projects from IEO on Binance to invest in instead of risking ICO on platforms that are not really reputable.

OP, I think ICO is long dead and buried. Currently no project thinks of conducting ICO for the purchase or circulation of their coin or token. Any project that does that faces the risk of being tagged hence they avoid ICO. IDO is much okay and active but I barely hear of it these days but however, there are still projects that conduct IDO  on decentralised exchange and are doing perfectly well.

However, centralised exchange now have launchpad where tokens and coin launch on the exchange platforms with the CEO's of the projects being identified through KYC and other forms of procedures they go through so as to ensure that they are genuine and transparent in their dealings with their members.

I have purchase or owned tokens through centralised exchange launchpad and I must say that process was transparent and secured enough to protect everyone involved in the process.

If you're considering the platforms whereby you can market your ICO, then the centralized exchanges are the best and most effective place of doing that, you can check for more requirements to meet up with application for that with any of the exchange in consideration, market and promote the ICO project in other to gain massive awareness and also fund it and launch airdrops of the same coin or token, then if possible, engage on a signature campaign.

Only 2017 saw the popularity of many of the best projects spread out from ico, but the chaos and scams that followed the year after that have led to more recognition as ico scams. Moreover investors are still being cheated by fraudsters and scammers for many purposes. Now new projects are just using different methods to promote like airdrop. But now they are giving more importance to ido to sell tokens where the investor volume is high. But amid this foresight investors are now buying new tokens from ido. But to make such things more solid and effective ido reward should be given special importance.

I find icoanalytics more useful as I also started to follow it not for making investments but to know the existence of new projects how much they have raised, and if they have any good partners or potential. If they have then I start to use their platform, even if it's in testnet phase, in the essence of getting early adopters rewards AKA airdrop for being their early user.

So, as a project owner you should raise some funds, raise some audience, bring some incentives programs, talk with some twitter and telegram influencer and ask them to spread a word about your project if you don't have huge funding then you have to talk to them otherwise they will do it without asking you, they will promote it.

Overall, I find this method of promoting your project more successful one, because people are joining, completing tasks such as following, investing, staking, locking, etc. from more than one accounts which bring more exposure to the project.

In other words, ICOs are obsolete and not the methods used today.
Launchcpad or launchpool on Exchange is preferred at this time because it will be very crowded with exchange users who are already preparing to follow it, but of course it requires quite expensive costs and guarantees that are quite commensurate for the tier 1 Exchange class.

A few months ago when the SOLANA network was hyped, even people didn't need to rely on ICOs, IDOs, launchpads etc., they only marketed through their own Twitter dev and only needed to send funds to the address provided.
It was as successful and controversial at first as Slerf, but then it became a scam by scammers, and it was easy to get millions of dollars and then run away.

As most of the members mentioned above, no one cares about ICOs anymore, as most of them are fraudulent projects and gave Crypto a bad reputation when it spread like an epidemic in 2017.

I think OP is looking from the perspective of a start-up/project owner, no? If that was the case maybe the hurdle to get listed on Binance or something similar is too big for his case. I believe he already counts anything popular like Binance on his project plan, I'd be surprised if he doesn't know or consider that. Not to mention he asked about tips to launch or market his project. Maybe he can share more details on his budget, marketing plan, etc so we can give more suggestions. As of now can't really suggest anything detailed for him since his question is just too broad imo.

Yes, that's right...I think why some people find tokens or coins sold via launchpad on Binance quite interesting is, because some investors believe that the related tokens or coins will list on Binance and have a bullish moment when the listing occurs. Even though that is not enough for long-term interests, because basically Binance only collaborates at the beginning, namely when launching and when listing. Meanwhile, the future of the project really depends on the progress and development carried out by the team. So it could be said that tokens sold on launchpad are only of interest to short-term investors.
