How do you spot the a token that is about to pump before it does so?

You can recognize by analyzing the market depth chart (I exclude shitcoins with pump dump schemes). If the edge of the sell wall is suddenly much lower than the buy wall and the overall total sell order volume is lower, it could mean that price will break some resistance line hard and buying pressure will spike drastically. More or less, see the following example:

If you are using spread and depth to read the coins that is going to pump, you are probably on a long thing, you will end up buying and dumping on because depth of trading is the worst thing to use of analysis because it can be manipulated and by the whales. They make you think that a coin is having activity make you think people are buying but in reality, that's wash trading.

Another thing to disregard is spread, that thing is one of the worst thing that you can use to analyze the market, you will buy/sell into what they want you to think and then the next thing, you are down. This thing happen a lot in future trading where manipulation happen a lot.

This is why avoid futures trading and usually stick with spot, I have less of manipulation techniques to deal with.

If it's a good pick of coin it'll give good profit sooner or later.

Well, OP was looking for a pump indicator which means it's spot trading and I think it refers to a token that will list soon. My picture may not be perfect as an example of my illustration.

To be frank, it is going to be hard to know in advance what can be the coins/tokens that will make it on the market...noy unless, of course, either we use insider trading or we have the power to predict the future. Be that may, there can be some factors to look at that may help a coin/token to be sucessful. One, the coin must be fundamentally good. Two, there is a strong community supporting it. Third, it has plans to get listed in different exchanges. Still, nobody can be sure and there is no guarantee in the cryptocurrency market as there are so many projects that are dying everyday due to many reasons. One has to be careful and must use due diligence, otherwise one should look at this enterprise as partly gambling.

I remember seeing a meme coin got pumped crazily within a day or so, yet those tokens are fundamentally worthless. I wonder if ignoring fundamental analysis would result in better prediction if the goal is for short-term trading.

Well you see, here are the two things that make a new token pump like crazy:

- people, and
- media

If you have a lot of people buying the thing, then obviously the price is going to go up. And how do you get those people? From broadcasting on the news. Not on legacy mainstream media but on platforms like X, where you are more likely to find degens who will try to make a killing off the coin. These people trading it will catch the attention of actual news outlets who will then report on that and bring even more users to you, making you rich.

Like I already mentioned I will always regard Future trading the same as forex trading because the both trading is very complex to understand and the more you are feeling that you have understand it that's when the charts will confuse you the more, actually I have gotten some awful experience about it before when I had no much knowledge about cryptocurrency and I lost a lot of money because of the complexity in future trading.

This only lies under our ability in knowing how to speculate, if we are being able to read and study the chart well, we will perceived from some indications that the market is been over bought o sold and we can also make use of other parameters or indicators towards knowing the pattern in which the market may take over the coin in consideration, it takes us to do our own research to make it happen.

That's why, usually someone who plays in future trading, to manage their risk, they will use the SL and TP features. Yes, after all, gambling has a very high risk. That's why I personally think these two features are very helpful for me to manage the risk. SL can help reduce the risk of big loss if at any time the market changes direction very drastically. And TP will be quite helpful to suppress our greedy nature, because when the market is in accordance with our instincts, we will be tempted to delay TP, until finally because of being too greedy, then it turns around.

Actually, it is quite difficult to predict which coins will be able to pump drastically. Yes, because after all, it's just like speculation, because what is considered good technically and fundamentally is not necessarily able to pump optimally. And there are also some influences in it. But at least, just follow the news about new coins that are really hyped.

It is indeed difficult to predict to know which coins or altcoins that will pump but there are some people who might have a prediction that is close to the exact thing that will happen (those people who are patient enough to gather data and their analysis skill). What I can say is to get updated to coins especially those crypto that may have some sort of hype going on and maybe one of the coins that will pump later on.

As we all know that in cryptocurrency, we are more experienced than each other, and when it comes to making speculations on the market price and possible future prospects, some are better in doing that than others, but at the end, everyone is taking risk towards making an investment in any of them, if they come as expected, then such becomes their luck and if not the accept it as it appears.

I usually check out TradingView and CoinMarketCap to spot tokens that might be on the verge of a pump. I look for sudden volume spikes and keep up with news and social media buzz. For my trades, I stick to a strategy, use stop-loss orders, and try not to let greed take over. I also follow some crypto communities where I get useful tips and insights from others.
