Trezor introduced Safe 5

Trezor has introduced a new Safe 5 hardware wallet model, including a bitcoin-only version. It is priced at $169. The company also announced the launch of Trezor Expert, a series of courses for customizing hardware devices.

P.S. Does anyone use this wallet? If yes, describe your experience of using it. Are you going to buy a new model?

Never have trezor, only ledger so i can't tell any experience using it. For someone who collects hard ware wallets such as any trezor models this is a another one to be added on its list. But for some average hardware wallet user, this is just a waste of money when you can use with the same feature and function for the old one.

I followed the release of this new Trezor hardware wallet and for the price they are asking I don't think it is offering anything special compared to previously released Safepal Safe 3.
Sure it has color touchscreen that is a bit larger and protected with gorilla glass, but there is no camera and QR code support.
For $169 they are asking for Trezor Safe 5 you can buy Keystone 3 and almost Passport by Foundation that are all airgapped devices.
If somene already owns Trezor Safe 3 they don't need to bother with buying Trezor Safe 5.

I would agree that it is overpriced, it seems like they want to charge for their brand name. Ledger helped them stand out with their incompetence, considering that they have long been two of the strongest brands in the HW industry.

What I don't like is that I now have advertisements in the Trezor suite.

Advertising could be a new feature on Trezor Safe 5 to make users less stressed when accessing their crypto assets ^^

Competition is the driving force behind development, although there are many other hardware wallets on the market such as Exodus, SafePal and Tangem, Trezor and Ledger are still the two most popular names. I have never used a hardware wallet but through reviews on Youtube and forums I do not see any difference between the generations, the new products only provide a few additional features that are not really valuable to users and are not a reasonable justification for the high price.

My friend's advice: buy the cheapest Ledger or Trezor hardware wallet as it is enough to protect our BTC!

I just checked about it on their website[1-2], but i don't see strong reason to justify it's price when it's previous version only cost $79 or about half[3]. Addition of screen which is bigger with color and touch screen shouldn't be that expensive.

I don't think it's very expensive when compared with other hardware wallets, but it's nothing offering so much improvements to justify double the price of Trezor Safe 3.

What I don't like is that I now have advertisements in the Trezor suite. 

Luckily it's easy to click and remove them, but they should enable option to permanently block all advertisements.
I don't see it all the time, and compared to Legder Live ads Trezor ads are much less intrusive.

I hope nobody is actually buying this using their real addresses after the last Trezor hack that exposed customer information.

If you can, use a P.O. box to receive the hardware wallet after you order it.

Now the Safe 5 might be decent, but past security mishaps make it impossible to not take at least a few precautions when you order it.

The Export courses though, I think those are the real deal. Can't wait to see those.

I think that only email addresses and names are leaked recently, not addresses and other personal data, but I generally agree for buying any hardware wallets.
If you can better buy them in local shop and pay with cash, this way you won't leave any trace that you purchased it.

Current price for this is not great for non-airgapped device.

Firstly I haven't used any hardware wallet due to all cryptocurrency and related devices are banned in my region And I think I won't be able to use any hardware wallet until my country legalizes this cryptocurrency. Because if it falls into the hands of the customs while importing from abroad, then on the contrary I will be in more danger.
Now let me say whether I should buy this wallet as far as I have seen its features its price seems over rated to me because there are already many hardware wallets available with almost the same features at this price. Already dkbit98 mentioned in his post that anyone who has a safe 3 wallet should not buy a safe 5.

I remember reading the same story in this forum, but I can't recall if that's you or not. Does your country's law explicitly ban wallet imports? What kind of sentence they will give you if you break the law? Before my country clarified its position on cryptocurrency, I saw a lot of people buy/sell hardware wallets with no issues. Not sure how other countries deal with that but I've never heard a trader get jailed because they own a crypto wallet. Then again there's no need to buy this new HW if you can build your own air-gapped device.

It is Trezor Suite software, regardless of which wallet model you use. The thing is simple, I don't want to see any ads in the wallet software.

I don't know if there were additional changes in the security hardware on the new wallet and how much such a thing affects the price. Rather, I would say that part of the higher price is included in the marketing and promotion of the new product.

The trouble is going to be finding a shop in your country that sells hardware wallets. The risk of someone modding the wallet in the store is extremely low so that shouldn't be a problem, but I don't know of too many resellers of hardware wallets in the world, although that would make a great business idea.

Better yet, Airgap Vault can be downloaded on an old Android phone or iPhone and you can use that as a hardware wallet since it will store the keys inside the secure element, and nobody will notice a thing.

Already dkbit98 mentioned in his post that anyone who has a safe 3 wallet should not buy a safe 5.

I would not buy it, but I am not telling anyone else what to do with their money.
btw I don't understand how this NikeFit guy can ask if someone is using device that was just released a few days ago

I don't think there are any security improvements, unless if they used some different model of secure element.
