Trump's Stance on Cryptocurrency
« on: June 15, 2024, 12:00:43 PM »
Donald Trump said he hopes all remaining bitcoins are manufactured in the United States. Quite crazy, is this an attempt to completely consolidate the votes of all crypto enthusiasts? He also said he loves and understands cryptocurrency, adding that bitcoin miners help stabilize energy supply for the grid. Trump stated he will advocate for miners from the White House.

He must understand cryptocurrency as he had run some crypto-based campaigns for his upcoming election selection. And due to these crypto-based campaigns, he has collected a lot of money like in millions. I already read this news somewhere maybe on this forum. My instance on this statement by Trump is it's just a political move to impress crypto enthusiasts and this is not something new.

I am not a US citizen, but if there is any reading it could confirm that whenever in the past Trump made promises did he stick to them or not? If he fulfilled them always then he will also stick to this promise as well otherwise he is just taking advantage of the hype. I hope future will be more wonderful for crypto industry as we need more adoption.

Again, it's election time, so what you do expect from him? He wanted to get all the votes, from any race, color or religion from the US. And with the popularity of Bitcoin right now, he needs to be also getting the nod from crypto enthusiast with this kind of statements.

He has been in the White house though, and didn't do that much in terms of being friendly to Bitcoin. So for me, this will not change a bit, if he win, I don't see that US enjoying more privilege as crypto enthusiast as this time.

I think the big point we should look is this: Between Donald Trump and Joe Biden who we think can better be serving positively the cryptocurrency industry. Promises will not be fulfilled 100% for sure but what is important with Donald Trump is he is so willing to listen to any industry including cryptocurrency. While the Biden administration has had proven to be an enemy of the industry since Day One the dementia guy took office. The SEC is waging a big war against the industry and it will not stop doing so until a new White House occupant will be inaguarat4ed in January 20, 2025. And I think this is the main reason why there are now big and well-known industry leaders slowly gravitating towards Trump.

Not crazy at all, considering that reportedly 40% of adult Americans are now invested in cryptocurrencies. Will they all vote for Trump? Of course not, but if large enough portion of the undecided crypto-enthusiast gets convinced to vote for him - that could turn out to be a deciding factor.

We have had a lot of dicussions recently about Trump, Biden and BTC, however, the sane thing to do is to ignore whatever politicians say when they are campaigning for an election, it is a trap. BTC isn't politics and it really does not need politicians, though their policies affects its price movements.

Trump has had a lot of conflicting stands on BTC and crypto, and i believe he does not even fully understand the industry, so don't take him seriously.

Bitcoin doesn't need Trump while Trump needs Bitcoin to increase his popularity. Kind of unethical for me, but THEY'RE POLITICIANS so what's new? :D

I'm not a US citizen, but I really don't want the way Trump is campaigning himself. He's using Bitcoin and cryptocurrency to his advantage because he knows that Biden never supported the cryptocurrency, but did the opposite of it. At the end of the day, Bitcoin doesn't need either Trump, Biden or whoever politicians they are because it will still exist although seeing a president of a country supporting Bitcoin is a plus like what we are seeing with President Bukele.

Trump is a businessman, and I don't think that he really will support cryptocurrency once he wins. If he sees that crypto will affect him negatively, he will just tell negative things to it. I mean he did it when he was the president of the US a few years ago.

I'm not familiar with how US politics work, but does a new president mean a new SEC chairman/whatever the leader position is? I thought who the president is doesn't matter since the selection doesn't depend on them. Which key leader are you referring to here? Are they really that influential on the crypto industry? I'm not sure what Trump gets behind the scenes but there's a high chance he's going to throw his promise away just like any other politician. Hard to figure out who to choose unless they're being transparent on what kind support they will do for crypto in the future. CMIIW.

At this time, Trump should realized that we are not after any move or attempts he is going to further make and tell us about unrealistic features just to accomplish his political ambition, we are quite alright aware of his support for bitcoin and not until he truly emerge a winner and won the presidential race, then adopt for bitcoin and make everyone realized the reason why they have to make use of a decentralized digital currency like bitcoin.

Yeah, but don't expect any president in a first world country to support BTC like Bukele is doing, that isn't going to happen if we are realistic. What politicians say in their campaign is most times different from what they do when elected, none of the candidates is pro BTC, so it is better to ignore whatever they are saying now.

I hope that Trump truly means what he says and that there are no hidden intentions that we do not know or that his statements are merely election propaganda. Trump’s statements can have both negative and positive sides.

If he wants to support the industry, this is very good, but if he wants to monopolize the mining of the remaining Bitcoin coins so that mining becomes entirely American, then this is very bad for the industry and decentralization. It could lead to the US government taking control of mining pools and transactions.

Personally, I want to be optimistic and for Trump to be supportive of the industry and not have hidden goals that harm the industry and decentralization.

If governments decide to narrow the windows on Bitcoin, the price will inevitably be negatively affected and decentralization will be harmed. In the end, those who own Bitcoin are human and inevitably fear prosecution.

Not any country, but the United States, which loves very centralization, which helps them impose sanctions and strengthen their foreign policies, so this will be impossible.

Not only the United States, every country likes centralization, they love to print their money as they like and control their central and commercial banks, etc, centralization ia a normal thing for the government. However, i know there are countries that are friendly to BTC, both in their policies and all, but the U.S is the total opposite of that. First world countries would hardly support BTC, they'll not see a need to.

I support your opinion why now when there is an election, he should've voiced his support when he is not yet running for election; it is up to the people of America and Cryptocurrency holders to scrutinize if he is being honest with his stance, politicians are quick to change their stance when elected to the office, this always happens in our country, and it's no different even in the highly democratic country like the US.
