Even as a responsible gambler  you may not be taken seriously if you advice another fellow gambler who is having problems and slowly becoming an addict to stop gambling completely.

This is why I put forward this advice that before you advise someone to quit gambling as a gambler you have to hide your gambling activities from them so it doesn't look like you are advising them to do something that you yourself cannot do.

If you also notice that these people are gambling as a source of income you can help them to find other more reliable sources of income while advising them that gambling is not a  source of income so that they no longer see gambling in that light.

Any gambler that is an addict because he is using gambling as a means of income is lazy and if you advice him to quit gambling when he knows that you are gambling is like you are mocking him. Looking for a job for them is good and if you gamble in secrete without allowing them to know, one day he will find out. If some gamblers see that you are insisting too much, they might run away from you and keep you an enemy because he believes he is not an addict and can hit the jackpot in no time. Only professionals know how to handle this.

it always sounds like a joke when it comes from a stranger from the internet. and its written compared to when you listen to it. but if you care so much about the lives of the gamblers i guess that's the least you can do giving advice despite you yourself couldn't keep up. 

from what i learn from a friend who is a complete failure in being a gambler, its best to learn from those gamblers and listen to their experience because it taught them the best lesson in life. don;t get addicted or you'll end up like them after they lose everything.  failed marriage, not liked by the family and above all homeless.

Advice and sending him reliable articles and videos about the negative effects of gambling will help newbies from falling into addiction. Still, of course, the constant monitor is a must so he will not get astray as soon as you see him spending more money and a long time in gambling, that is the time to give him another warning.
Some gamblers do not know that they are deep in gambling until someone warns them or reminds them the harmful effects of gambling.

None! There are millions who try their hard to quit gambling and they can't!
Unless they end up in a situation that is really bad and at this point, they have some sort of life-changing experience, usually bad stuff like going to prison or family leaving them losing their home nothing solves the problem.
I know people who have gone to every website and asked to be put on the list, did the same for the casinos, entered the self-exclusion list so they are banned from playing there, did everything they could and yet they still relapse end end up gambling.

That's why we have so many gambling addicts, and so many tragedies because there is nothing simple about giving up once you're truly addicted and not just a casual player!

A person who is good in making an income out of gambling should not be disturbed in anyway as long as he is fine with it and is not showing some self-destructive behavior. Of course, the problem is that it is seldom we can find people who are really genius when it comes to gambling as gamblers got a lot more chances of losing than winning. So what can be some practical tips to help addictive gamblers? I would say that the person first has to decide if he has already analyzed his situation as there is no point helping someone who is still in denial. Then he must seek help from understanding family members of friends even just someone whom he can talk to and this is for support as no one can face this problem alone. Another good idea is to look for groups within the community or near the community who are helping addicts cope with their individual situations and burden. Then some professional help can also play a lot of role here. Now, with our suggestions, the best thing to do actually is to never get involved with gambling in the first place...prevention is always better than cure all the time.

Gambling itself as an activity isn't harmful to anyone who's involved in it, the only thing that can be harmful is how person perceives and approaches gambling, his expectations of it also plays a very vital role too.

I really like one the points that the OP stated in the thread, about assisting the victim with a source of income if you notice that the victim's perception of gambling is a source of income, because what causes most addiction cases is mostly because they view gambling as a source of income rather than an activity for fun and recreation.

Just as you've rightly stated, the victim must first come to the realization and acceptance of the fact that he is suffering from gambling problems and needs help, then you can help the person sort for a better source of income to remove his attention from gambling as a way of earning money.

In fact, even if they have to go bankrupt because of gambling, it has nothing to do with us, and we may not care what happens to them.

But here our sense of humanity will definitely grow, and we do that because we care if something undesirable happens. Their responses will vary and that is where we have to be prepared for the negative responses they give. If the situation no longer allows it, then we stop doing it because we have done it before but their response is what makes us have to stop.

I used to be a total gambler(but not addicted i believe) so yeah i really hate listening to people who will just tell me to stop gambling
because for me its easy for them to say but harder for us to act .

I agree, it is not worth it to give an advice to people who don't try to listen to us as it was just a waste of time for us. I actually did this thing with my friends but unfortunately it's not working since they still insist they can manage addiction on their own and yeah mostly they just don't give a damn fvck though few will appreciate our effort but for some it's just nothing.

If you have seen someone who is addicted and don't know what to do in other to stop that, then try as much as possible to avoid them having full access to gambling and also limit the amount of fund available for them to be used for the purpose of gambling, it is only when we are having money to use for betting before gambling can take place, we are the ones to help ourselves before others could do so.

At times we all knows when do the wrong things while we don't at times.
There are actually gamblers with conscience ness who can actually figure their wrong ways in gambling and knowing that it is not a good habit, they would not want their relatives to also do with it but yet they can not help themselves to keep off from it.

So if you are to advice a relative on his gambling addiction, you don't have to hide your identity as a gambler but hide that irresponsible one of you and then advice him like you are a responsible gambler and that is why you are able to figure out how wrongs on gambling and then he might want to emulate those good part of you.
