Especially if some software is needed alongside the project. It may be fishy and end badly.

If you don't know about the project and it is brand new, try to participate carefully. If they want to directly connect your wallet then stay away. In my opinion a brand new wallet should be used to participate in these events. The name hacking and scamming in crypto is definitely dangerous so always be vigilant to protect yourself. Good projects will never ask for your personal information. They will only take the address to reward the winners. Moreover, most of the giveaway events from telegram are fake, so check which group you are in first.

You are right in this, it is not impossible for us to get money from a giveaway event, although the chances are very small because we have to be a very lucky person from thousands or even more people who are also expecting the prize.

Because in my crypto life i have participated in many twitter giveaways but never won. Moreover, i have participated in many giveaways from telegram too with the same results. But i have researched the winner list many times. Because all these giveaways also contain fraud. I checked the winner list of a project which was on twitter but almost all the winners had their accounts banned. That means team cheated here and reported as some banned and inactive winner list.

Earning from those giveaways is possible, but relying on it and don't get a regular job and you're one of the craziest people in the world already. Well, there might be some who thinks that way and can't blame them though, but good luck with that. I've participated in some giveaways on Twitter as well, but no luck there as well like others here. My luck is on this forum and another forum where I won at least once on a Bitcoin prediction contest.

I also used to do bounty campaigns in the beginning, I joined several bounty campaigns and And worked on every campaign from start to finish, but they let me down every time. I remember my first bounce campaign was 12 weeks total, I was very happy during that campaign. I always thought I might get something good (since it was my first campaign ever.) I was very optimistic that time about that campaigns, but they ended up giving me something that was only $0.40 at the current price. I was really disappointed at that time but I didn't give up, later I joined several more but after finishing them none of them paid me successfully. But I've seen some of the bounds do a lot of good for everyone, though I haven't gotten anything like that so far. However one should never be too optimistic about bounties, they may or may not pay you.

But so far I also have not been able to join any signature campaign. I will keep trying to see if I can join any good signature campaigns in the future.

But what I have to say here is that, not every event is legit, and it's also worthy of note that even for the event that are legitimate, the often is a limited number of participants that can win, this is to say that, even if you download the app, carry out all the task as required or requested, you still may at the end of it all, get nothing as a reward, this is to say that, aside completing the event tasks and all that, you still need to be lucky to be counted among the winners, else, you will get zero pay for whatever task or effort you put into the event.

Better to learn how to trade and make profit in crypto, than depend on giveaways as a way to make money online.
