There's a belief among some crypto experts and big investors that in the future, we might end up having coin(s) that'll do better than the mother coin(Bitcoin) but since we're yet to experience any extraordinary rise in the price of any of the alt coins to suggest that it possesses the potential to be the predicted coin, we'll continue to wait and see if that will happen someday.
That being said, a research I recently made suggests that Toncoin and Solana will perform well beyond the imagination of many crypto investors when the bull run finally hits the crypto market.
Although there are altcoins that will perform better than bitcoin, the popularity of bitcoin has not been replaced. Because investor confidence in bitcoin is still high and has not been able to switch to altcoins, this is the reason why potential altcoins such as solana and TON do not have high prices like bitcoin.
Bitcoin was just the first, and the price shouldn't really be the main metric to look at. It's the cap, the trading volume, the stability of the chain, amount of coins, founders, collabs, funds flowing from big organizations for such matters, etc.
All in all, everyone decides for themselves, alts = bigger potential and risks, btc and old coins - more time is needed for your investment to grow, but it's more stable.
