How such crypto investor lost that huge amount of money from scams? Is it how clever scammers nowadays are or we are just not aware of what has happening to our surroundings? Does he have no time to atleast double check if that message was legitimate? I just don't understand because even though I only have small amount of holdings on me I am not falling into this kind of trap and what's annoying here is that I even have doubts to legitimate emails I had and I think it wasn't my fault because yeah I value my safety.

I just read the news a few days ago that someone gets their hands on almost every email registered on Twitter and is now available for public use. And the OP and other members shared there that, from now on, those who were safe till now should be more careful now. Because if before their email was not in public, but now it is. And I also share the same thing that, we should not click on any link we receive.

I also happen to face the same type of issue but lost nothing, The Point is when your main email receives such a message which you have used before the knowledge or a long time ago that you should not use it everywhere and when you receive such mail on such emails you got panic and make moves which end up as getting scammed.

It is very disappointing that such a thing could still happen at this time when safety and security of assets is everywhere online like we are writing and  singing poems. 
OP the link you post here is not opening from my end as I have tried opening it severally. Although I got a little hint of it from google search.
I  think we should all be very much careful this time because Scammers are just everywhere looking for who to tap from. Scrutinise messages that comes to your DM, mails and lots  more so as not to get caught in the act.
Anybody who calls or messages you claiming to be a customer representative of any organisation telling you to grant them access to vital information about you, decline and block them straight up because no organisation would do such requesting for sensitive information of yours but rather you are the one to call them if you need help or something. Learn to be safe by taking the safety  and security of your assets serious.

It is a sad news for the coinbase user to lost that amount of money in crypto. I am wondering on how many people are doing some research that it is always a scam when someone or even a company asked for your seed phrase/private key to fix something for you like this coinbase user. I guess this person didn't even make a research or didn't even take the warning seriously which is "don't share your seed phrase or private key to anyone else" and also the warning or take note from exchange platforms such as "(Admin or Staff/We) never ask for your seed phrase". There's no hope for the cb user to get the funds back.

I have to sympathise with the victim, People constantly fall victims to scams even if they have been talked about many times. People who become victims are those that have sometimes not heard about this old method of scam or too greedy. 
Bad thing about being victim to scam is that you can get discouraged to never want to continue with crypto, I hope this is not a stop to the victims progress.

I wonder how someone who has $1.4 million USD in crypto assets could fall into the hands of scammers. We all know exchanges will never contact us first. I'm just not happy because this is a very hard lesson, and it's sad. If it were just a small amount, then it might be okay to say "lesson learned." Hopefully, the user will be okay by now.

Stories like this always amaze me. I can hardly believe that a person has $1.7 million in his wallet and does not know simple basic security principles. Is it possible for him to be this naive? This is really strange.

All exchanges, wallets, and even Telegram accounts put a warning to their users that we will not message you unless you message us first. On the other hand, they put another warning: Do not give your seed to anyone, whether from support or anyone else. These are the most basic principles of safety, and I am surprised that someone who has this large amount of money Making this mistake is as simple as that.

In addition to the above, there is a bigger mistake, which is putting all of his assets in one wallet. This is a series of consecutive mistakes.

Sorry to say this But I don't feel anything good about those victims because we kept advising them everytime to keep their asset safer.
for how  many years of bitcoin existing and this forum is running almost everyday there are tips and suggestions that we are sharing here yet they are becoming victims because of their stupidity.

How come that a person with this huge amount can still be a victim of scamming or hacking? can't he even spend some part of the funds to buy safer place to stall their funds?

For such a large amount, they should've advised its users to use a hardware wallet.

There are even hardware wallets that let you buy and sell coins from exchanges directly. (I think Trezor is one). So there's no excuse to not be doing this.
