Mid-Year Crypto Check-In: How’s Your Portfolio Performing?

It's the second half of the year, and I'm wondering how your portfolio is doing. I came across this Forbes article https://www.forbes.com/sites/dereksaul/2024/07/04/these-meme-coins-outperformed-bitcoin-in-2024-first-halfs-600-billion-crypto-rally/detailing the top-performing altcoins in the first quarter. Did any coin in your portfolio make it to the list? Also, what coins are you looking to add to your portfolio moving forward?

One coin from my holdings has gained 4x return for me. When it reached 4x value then I sold 75% of my holdings and those were some really good profits. Currently, I'm holding some good coins and those are performing pretty well for me.

Lucky for you mate to have 4x though I have gained lower than yours like half the price but yeah it's not that but since gain is gain but I haven't sold the profit yet I am just waiting for it to blow up. Unfortunately for me Bitcoin was the only best coin I had and the rest are shitcoins. I got Solana memecoins byt only two of them has gains.

The market in this period is not predictable as we need to intensify on how we predict for its performance since many of the coins are all going after the performance of bitcoin being the lead to all other cryptos, this mid year crypto market performance is getting more exciting as well because of how it is performing seen it going bullish recently as it now at $64,000 earlier today which could get close to $70,000 before the month ends.

You should be dropping your calls ahaha.. which are you holding at the moment. For me, asides memes like Pepe, wif, I hold ton, sol, near & $BGB (Which was included in the Forbes list) did around 100% since Jan. I'm hoping the next half would be better though..

You should be dropping your calls ahaha.. which are you holding at the moment. For me, asides memes like Pepe, wif, I hold ton, sol, near & $BGB (Which was included in the Forbes list) did around 100% since Jan. I'm hoping the next half would be better though..

I'm not going to share exactly which coins I hold or which one gave me 4x returns but surely I would say that I'm in Ton and Sol as both of those are good coins I believe.

I've made some profits from Wif in past and I believe it's a good one as well but I'm not holding it anymore as I sold my holdings for 30% profit if I remember correctly.

I don't really follow Forbes list as that's not necessary for me, I do my own research and only invest in coins that I find good.

These memecoins have become very popular, but it is surprising that “Dogwifhat” achieved the largest growth of 1,306%, and the market value is 2.1 billion dollars!!!.

And that is the very definition of meme coins though, that huge spike in the price and then the market cap going off the charts. But we will have to question whether it's sustainable or not and we all know the answer for that. Lucky for those who really know how to play the game about meme coins and then getting out in time to make profit rinse and repeat. And with that, if there are investors that are going to win, there could be some, specially newbies in the market that are going to suffer a big lost. So it really depends on the risk appetite of the investors if they are willing to join the meme craze and bet to win in the end. For Bitcoin enthusiast, I doubt that they are going after those meme coins.

I sold most of my portfolio even before the small bullrun we experienced before the Bitcoin halving. Right now, I only have a limited BTC and ETH on my wallets though I am trying to add more to this as I am sure that there can really be a big bullrun coming...this is a question of WHEN and not of IF. Right now, I am also looking at SOL and TON as they got some big potential for more growth ahead. The market is getting excited as we are entering past the German Effect and the MtGox Factor by next month. Recovery is coming soon we just have to hold on and wait for it.

Earlier in the year when the market were green and Bitcon was pumping I had sold my meme coin stash at that time. A few months back I again invested in a few existing meme coins and now I am holding them on to get some good returns. To me the only narrative apart from Bitcoin that is ruling the market is meme coins.

The market is always unpredictable and the most unpredictable time is when the price is at consolidation phase. But we can still analyze the market what will happened next but not 100%. I forecast Bitcoin before that the price would draw a liquidity below $56k, and many don't believe because the price is too far from the area, but at the end of the day it happened. So for me, there are many scenario what will be the price of Bitcoin in the next days, it could be pull back to send the price lower than $54k or the price will create another ATH.

I don't invest in meme coins but prefer not to but love to learn more about how they really work besides the ones that are managed by scammers. I had some altcoins like, Matic, avax, near, c98, etc. I am making a loss in all of them right now. Unfortunately, I bought Near low and sold with a lesser profit while it made it to $7. I regret on selling earlier, and I made some profit from AVAX and ate it, and left the amount I spent on it at the start, after taking out the profit. And now it's making me loss due to a downtrend.

Waiting for the altcoin season, I hope I will make some money. I am not investing in alts now, because I lack some knowledge at the moment, but I prefer to hold NOT and TON, SOL, ETH and BNB maybe because they can give us some good profit but with BNB we should not expect more like it can't even give 2x.

I just looked at my portfolio yesterday, and I'm down at least 40-50% on most of the altcoins that I'm holding. Bitcoin and SUI are the ones that I'm up currently (not that much on SUI, but I'm x2 with Bitcoin still since I'm a long-term holder of it).

I believe most of us are experiencing the same as what I'm experiencing unless you just bought altcoins when it went down massively a few months ago. If you bought earlier than that then most probably, you're at a loss. Anyway, as for the meme coins, that's the first category that's off on my list. I will not invest on it, nor hold for long term. Maybe I'll buy some and hold it for days then sell when I gained profit already.

Comparing your return to the overall market is a better measure. If your total portfolio is up 20% for the year and the overall market is only up 15%, you have done very well. Or if your portfolio is down 10% and the overall market is down 15%, you have done well.
