Should children be educated about Bitcoin?

I have tried asking my kid to read what Bitcoin sometime ago. She answered its a digital money, thats all she replied. She was right at some point but maybe later I will ask for more details like what blockchain is.

When the time comes that BTC is already adopted everywhere the kids would have to adopt crypto. Maybe they will participate in the forum as well.

I would say yes, preferably as part of general economic education. Although it should be limited to fundamental stuff, while correcting common misconception (such as Bitcoin is ponzi or anonymous).

Age has no limits and there are children who are so smart in a way that even at age 5 they knows what is bitcoin and everything that relates with it, the problem is they wouldn't know how to control their personal security key such as the seed phrase and private key they would generate. Children are far way very smarter than the adults we think that knows more better, some of them could start now and when they gets to age 12 then they are already guru in programing and coding.

As we know that time is changing day by day and we are stepping into the new world of technology where we can see a lot of digital businesses exist these days, like Amazon, eBay, Bitcoin, Shopify many more. Rather than if we compare our time to this time so we will realize that time is now changed. OP the age you mentioned is good for the children so I think we should introduce to them these business models step by step at this age. Although we know that this generation is used to mobile devices so they can pick these things easily.

A couple of weeks ago my father advised me to stand my children with me as soon as possible and he was referring it to the physical business which is also a good thing but at that time I thought children should educate themselves first and during the period of education they can also adopt these online business model as part-time. So, in this way, they can achieve their goals at a very young age and become a successful person in a young age. I have seen many young kids grow in this way, they have made their future bright through these online business models.

Kids at age seven and above pretty much know the basic value of money. They might not be that good at calculating yet but they understand they can buy things with money. I think it's also a good age to introduce bitcoin as a mode of payment. They can learn more about the tech behind it as they grow older.

Not for me, even though its been that told in school about money but my children arent that too familiar about money since im that providing all the things they do need.
They do know to count but the other basic stuffs arent something that they do know about. it would really be just that depending on how they would really be that
dealing up with things or making up some question. As a parent then you would really be eventually be able to point out or notice out if they are really that prepared on learning

Agree. At least, the children should be in Junior high school. You're right, 12+ is an age of Junior high school students. When they are in Junior high school, they can easier to understand Bitcoin although we only need to introduce general things about Bitcoin. In my opinion, we don't need to learn them specifically about trading Bitcoin or investing in Bitcoin. Just focus on introducing the history of Bitcoin, the functions, its advantages, and its role in life. We also can tell about the development and adoption of Bitcoin around the world if they can understand it. I think it is enough to tell them about these.

You are right and this is what some parents should know about this age of technology we are now. Educate your children earlier about the ravelling technology that will be impactful to them in the future. You can teach them about financial technology from a young age and not necessarily exposing to wealth itself from that age. A kids brain is far far smarter than an adults own and they can comprehend things faster than an adult will. What they learn from young age becomes glue to them forever if they understand it from young age, so teaching them about financial technology from young age is not a bad idea.

I really wish I had someone that thought me about my financial literacy when I know nothing about money and economics, it would have helped me avoided some of the mistakes I have made in my teens. When I have a child tomorrow, that's going to be the first priority in everything he does, even if he has a talent or any gift, financial literacy will come with it because it's needed in every stage of life.

Bitcoin is one of the best way to achieve it, teach them while young but you don't have to be practical about it and even if you have to, don't allow them to have access to it, they can be curious you know and will want to spend the Bitcoin you might have set aside for them.

I personally do not recommend children to learn about bitcoin because they will later know what bitcoin is from the internet, YouTube, and even from social media, because bitcoin is not the basis of education, it is more about investment and the right time to invest is probably over the age of 17, which can be said to be mature enough to manage their own money.

Bitcoin was created by Satoshi nakamoto with the purpose of breaking the barriers in p2p transactions by removing a third party from transactions with is locally know as the fiat banking institutions. And it was successful, and this even made long distance transactions to become  much easier and faster compared to passing  through the usual procedures with traditional fiat banks. However from a younger age, they can start learning theoretically what bitcoin is, and its advantages that supercedes fiat banks. That could help them understand better the importance of bitcoin. Bitcoin is not a difficult to understand  so why wait for very long time before teaching them about bitcoin, sometimes you'll be shocked that they have already gotten  a misinformation from their peers because you failed to educate them about it on time and that could lead to trust issues or refusal to accept bitcoin, and if they refuse to accept bitcoin how then can we pass it on to the next generation?

I've read a lot of threads about whether children should be exposed to things like Bitcoin and at what age, and opinions are divided on this, probably because people in different cultures raise their children differently. Although I personally advocated the position that children should be allowed to enjoy their childhood as long as possible, somehow it seems to me that at some point they should be introduced to the fact that Bitcoin exists and how it works.

There is no doubt that we should allow children to enjoy their childhood but a time will come when they will become young and curse you for not giving them the options or facilities available for them to make their life more easier. I think we should not take Bitcoin as a burden because it is not. When a child turns 11 to 14 we should introduce them what is Bitcoin and blockchain.

No doubt that children adapt to the environment they are growing, so some become mentally mature faster than others. I prefer this age because children adopt a lot in this age. If you will show them the right way to achieve some goals then they will follow it (if they), and a time will come when they won't curse you then.

In short, we should educate children, they take schools as a burden so if they take the education of btc and Blochain as a burden and an enemy to their fun then let them take it. They will praise this burden in the future.

As our personality is different so are our thoughts and decisions. I respect your decision if that is what you propose, but what if the child gets curious probably because she/he watched a video where they mentioned bitcoin,  and start asking questions, are you still going to leave them behind the shadows, when they can get the basic knowledge ASAP?  Teaching your children to know God is very important,  there is no doubt about that, but like I said earlier, teaching from a much younger age is what I recommend so that, at age 14 the child is already equipped with enough knowledge on how it works and can make transactions. Swiftly without making any possible mistakes like coping the wrong address or incomplete address. Its very obvious children of these days are getting much smarter and curious to know things.

Basically, this kind of knowledge can be given to children. It's just that what each country considers to include this topic in the lesson is the readiness of the children themselves. Because of course it will be different in each country. And what is certain is, how wise is it to give knowledge about Bitcoin and crypto to children in school?

This will depend on the purpose. Because in elementary school, I once read that Bitcoin was introduced to them. This was only introduced, not taught with a theory that was difficult to understand. So, if the intention is to simply introduce it with language and also very easy descriptions, illustrations that are easy to understand and interesting for children, elementary school but for classes that are already high in their level, maybe they can accept this. It's just that they don't really understand what Bitcoin is theoretically.

However, if it is already at a more advanced level such as junior or senior high school, at the age of 12 years and above, maybe the theory can be included little by little. But not yet very technical. Because how the development of the child's brain is different, the ability to grasp is also different. Yes, each parents may have their own way to educate the children. However, I also will never force my children to know Bitcoin too early. Bitcoin isn't something related to children matter, it is for people who have knowledge about investment. Children won't think about investment, they must enjoy their life. I personally prefer to introduce Bitcoin to my children when they are already 18+, I think it is the age of students of Senior high school. At that age, they already have enough knowledge to understand Bitcoin. I think it is not to late to learn them Bitcoin at 18+. Why we must hurry to introduce the children under 18?

I agree with others, 12+ seems like the ideal age to start teaching them about it. But we need to start teaching kids about economy as well, schools do not have economy for some reason, I am sure there is a big reason behind it, but every year should have an economy related class. You do not have to make it like a ton of class, like even 1 hour per week is more than enough to be fair, and start that from like age 10 or so if you ask me, start with very simple stuff, or you could still start at 12 too ,but keep doing that until they go to college. That would be like six years of classes, even if you do like just 30 weeks a year (I don't remember how many weeks high schools are) that would still be 180 hours of education, probably a lot more, and that could change a persons life.
