Should children be educated about Bitcoin?

As much as we like to educate our kids to learn crypto, there is also a threat about their growth in relating to reality and social life.

The way to connect to people these days is just diffirent from how older generations do it. Studies shows we need to limit their screen time and social media exposure. But allowing them to learn crypto will also need them to focus on screen. Its hard to balance this already when they learn P2E games.

"Screens" have of course become a real obsession of young people, to the extent that I read that some company will soon release a product on the market in the form of a case for mobile phones/tablets that can be locked, and the key can then be entrusted to a close person.

However, in order to educate someone about Bitcoin, no technology is needed to begin with - because the basics can be explained using very simple tools such as paper and pencil or with a simple explanation. When I opened this topic, I did not think that children should immediately be taught how to make crypto wallets and make transactions, because legally they cannot buy BTC until they are of age.

In my opinion, introducing bitcoin coins to 12-year-old children is not necessary because at their age they have to learn subjects implemented by their school and I am afraid that if they are taught bitcoin education they will not be able to enjoy their youth and school subjects. If they learn bitcoin then in the future they will work hard to get money and at their age they are not worthy of earning their own money.

If CZ has a new project plan related to education, this is good because it can educate students to know more about crypto and the technology in it, blockchain technology. I personally also agree with this, children who are over 12 years old should know about bitcoin and altcoins. Because in the future, crypto technology will be needed and more popular in the future.

As for me, i will make every necessary efforts in making bitcoin worth taking for my children to learn and on now about it right from their early stage, this will help them have more desirable understandings and insights about bitcoin network, because children has good ability to learn fast and assimilate quick, it will also be for our own benefits if our children have the required exposure to Bitcoin because they may have more understanding to learning it.

I am with the same opinion that 12+ would be a good starting point for children to get exposed gradually to financial concepts including cryptocurrency like Bitcoin. Parents should be teaching their children on managing money and yes also investing so they would end up financially independent when they grow up and not be slaves to the usual workplace. Bitcoin must be included in financial literacy program that parents must adopt...the only problem is when the parents are themselves not financially independent and not good in investing money which in this case they have nothing to teach their children of and this can be the case where schools should come in.

Yes, 12+ is a great age to start teaching your children about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies as part of educating them on financial literacy. Parents don't need to explain everything about Bitcoin all at once. There are ways to discuss these that are age-appropriate. Introducing basic concepts of money and digital currencies can begin as early as elementary school. At this age, children can grasp simple ideas about what money is and how it has evolved from physical to digital forms. As they grow older, particularly during their teenage years, they may be ready for topics like blockchain technology, the risks and benefits of investing, and the importance of digital security.

I don't think teaching children about money, digital or fiat, prevents them from enjoying their childhood. When they see their parents using money, credit cards, or Venmo, they will ask questions. And you can't wait till they're older to explain it to them; same goes for Bitcoin. Just make sure that your answers fit their age. Usually, they just need a simple explanation. No need for a "lecture" until they're older.

Children should start to know and understand crypto and all digital technologies that are likely to come in the digital era. Many people predict that in the future digital currency will dominate. While general public should be more educated about bitcoin and crypto in general, problem I see here is that he might teach people some plainly wrong things.

For example, some time ago he stated that for 99.99% of the people it would be best to keep their crypto on centralized exchanges because average people can't handle being their own bank. So instead teaching people how to safely store their money on their own non-custodial wallet, he may teach them to give their money and responsibility of storing them to someone else.

I am sure, children under 10 years old are educated by watching cartoon films like the embedded video will only add to the happy impression of the animated story, they may not realize that Bitcoin is there as a digital crypto currency that is quite considered for the current era... I agree with the OP, who suggested providing further bitcoin education at a young age (12+)... through cartoons like that, maybe the child will start to be creative when they are 16+, of course every child has different developments...

Too early to teach something that is not their field, will only make the child feel pressured... we cannot suppress their desires that are still focused on something fun.

Age is irrelevant to the maturity in my opinion, someone who is 10 may even provide for their family instead of pursuing their happiness due to their situation but talking on the wider scale there could be a limit but I don't know whether it will work cause kids get their hands in kindergarten itself so soon if they are matured enough to read and understand they can know about Bitcoin but my suggestion will be instead of exposing our kids to Bitcoin we need to educate them about the importance of money.

For me then i wont really be tending it to be that kind of mandatory or something that i would really be doing it on a forceful way but rather it would really be that better that you should really be that teaching them on the time that you do see them that they are already that prepared or knowledgeable enough when it comes to financial aspect.If not, then teaching them might really be that not be able to easily absorbed or would really be that easily be learnt just because they arent that interested or having no idea at all. I agree with you. The need for separate knowledge about Bitcoin should not be a priority for kids as they will learn to understand the importance of money alongside their regular studies. Numbers and money aren't exactly the same, money is more wider subject that need to be covered economics, politics, legal stuffs and banking which is the reason why most of people don't really know what and how money is made still they use it everyday ironically they run for their entire life to make that money, so enabling the knowledge about money is needed but it should not be limited to Bitcoin alone.

Have you noticed that in school, they don't teach you about money, they will never teach you how to make money but will teach you all the theories about money, that's the difference between school, formal education and street education. You can't learn street education in school but you can learn formal education in school but these days, people give priority to street education.

Formal education put you in big place of the system created but if you don't have the means, better stick to street education, this is where Bitcoin and the rest fall into category. Money concept will never be thought in school in my opinion no matter how we support it.
