Should children be educated about Bitcoin?

CZ, ex ceo of Binance is working into some new project related to education, where he wanna to introduce anyone into crypto, removing the walls that blockchain might have for regular people.

Soo im sure children should and have to be educated about crypto in general, not only Bitcoin, going deep into blockchain as this is a something very interesting and with huge usecases.

If CZ has a new project plan related to education, this is good because it can educate students to know more about crypto and the technology in it, blockchain technology. I personally also agree with this, children who are over 12 years old should know about bitcoin and altcoins. Because in the future, crypto technology will be needed and more popular in the future.

As far as I know, it has nothing to do with crypto, just financial education and financial literacy that's it.

And so as parents, of course we want to teach our crypto all about money, but I would slow down about Bitcoin and crypto in general. However, with the advent of social media, I've seen young kids involving themselves into crypto or even anything about money, like becoming entrepreneur. So even if we don't want to teach them, sooner or later our kids will learn it whether we like it or not. So perhaps we can enter the picture and be supportive about them if they are really that interested.

Numbers and money aren't exactly the same, money is more wider subject that need to be covered economics, politics, legal stuffs and banking which is the reason why most of people don't really know what and how money is made still they use it everyday ironically they run for their entire life to make that money, so enabling the knowledge about money is needed but it should not be limited to Bitcoin alone.

I know that numbers and money aren't the same. But when we teach our kids, their questions in the book are like you have ten dollars, your friend gave you another five dollars; how many do you have? Haha. I know it's just math and nothing else. It's important for children to learn math not just for money, but for everything.

But as I said, twelve years is good enough to introduce children to Bitcoin, and they should know how Bitcoin provides privacy to its users. How Bitcoin gives you freedom to be your own bank. It's important to let them know the difference between the traditional banks and Bitcoin. So, they will be able to choose what to pick from their young age.

While general public should be more educated about bitcoin and crypto in general, problem I see here is that he might teach people some plainly wrong things.

For example, some time ago he stated that for 99.99% of the people it would be best to keep their crypto on centralized exchanges because average people can't handle being their own bank. So instead teaching people how to safely store their money on their own non-custodial wallet, he may teach them to give their money and responsibility of storing them to someone else.

That's right, he actually clearly said with that statement that in a way all those who prefer self-custody are actually "unintelligent" to be their own bank - from which comes one of my questions "Do you want your children to be taught by people like CZ or will you learn them yourself?"

In addition, CZ is no longer the CEO, at least not since he barely escaped prison in the US by paying several billion dollars in fines because he worked "honestly"

Dunno, 12 years old I've been surrounded seemed like way too young to comprehend something like bitcoin and I would personally wait for at least few more years before introducing them to it. Having said that, kids should be taught about value of the money from the very early age.

I don't think any one want get privacy with bitcoin because to hidden their transaction from government but from any one else has potential with criminal cases. You can imagine when some one have many bitcoin assets in their wallet but not privacy yet how large potential get criminal cases every day many people try to attack him stole bitcoin assets.

Teach children about bitcoin is not only about how to make privacy and hidden from government but also teach them to see bigger opportunity with bitcoin to earn much profitable one day later trough long term investment or make daily trading.
All parent teach their children for getting opportunity earn profitable with bitcoin not as how to get privacy or learning about money laundering potential with bitcoin.

We do need to tech them about bitcoin regardless of their age because like we do them tech about the traditional Fiat eco system to generate some Idea about the Economics like bitcoin has also chance to be the part of financial eco system so it is indeed they need to educated about this.

It varies from country to country and society to society. You don't have to teach your kids to hide your money from the government. Bitcoin is not just private money; it helps you to be your own bank. You don't have to scare them. But you should teach them the benefits of Bitcoin. You can withdraw your money whenever you want, and no one is going to ask what you are going to do with your own money.

I don't like banks asking me why I am withdrawing my own money and what I am going to do with my own money. It's my own business. Don't move it in a negative way; think positive and be positive. Bitcoin is not a bad thing and not a forbidden thing.

Yes i will also vote for this should only be done with children aged 12+. Because Bitcoin will be a very necessary coin for the future and those who don't know about this Bitcoin then will find themselves very backward.  Because in the future people who don't know about Bitcoin and don't use Bitcoin will never be considered smart people.  So definitely we need to educate the next generation about science.  But since Bitcoin is not a simple thing and it is very valuable, children under the age of 12 should never try to teach it.  Because then they are completely minor due to which they will not understand their importance.  But at the age of 12+ it is much easier to teach children any subject and they can master it very quickly.  So I would advise everyone not to try to force Bitcoin on a child before 12 years old.

That's right, he got even 4 months in prison, which, as far as I can see, he's currently serving in some prison in California that looks more like a vacation spot than a prison. I guess that's something you get when you pay $4.3 billion in fines and solemnly promise not to launder money and do other bad things.

Ah, I thought that you said he managed to avoid the prison, that's why I asked. Even though, 4 months in prison is bascially like avoiding it.

I think it might be different from country to country, but I have noticed, that kids value or “understand” cash money mostly. They believe more to something that they can feel in hands. They understand what it is pay by card, but they like more when they have cash/banktones. Thus will they understand if we explain them that they can be their own bank?

I havent tried explaining crypto, as my kids is still young. But I think that even if I do that, my kid wont understand much as there is no way how to use that knowledge.

I will try to educate them when they have the ability to understand when they are in primary level the reason I have already mentioned in my previous post. I think this is very important when they could understand the fiat currencies as well. In the near future bitcoin or cryptocurrency will be used same like we do use the fiat currencies.
And what I think about teaching them not only before the 12years old I will say nothing will be good when we will force to learn. Teach them every thing wisely like they enjoy that.

I support your opinion. Children above 12 years of age can be given an idea about Bitcoin but it is also not mandatory. When someone crosses the age of 16 they can be given a proper guide about Bitcoin. see Bitcoin is money and a 12 year old kid will never care about money because he didn't learn the value of money at that time. when a child crosses the age of 16, maturity begins to set in and he/she begins to understand the difference between good and bad. so I think that's the perfect time to start teaching someone about Bitcoin.

In my country, The National Policy of Education stated it clear that, children should start formal education at the age of 6 years. And at that stage they have the cognitive and psychomotor and affective domain will be effective to be used. And when they start school what are they learning. At first, in the first three months, it is the memorising of the Alphabets and counting of Numbers from 1-100 and the next six months is for the formation of words and memorising of two letters words. And three terms formed one educational calendar in a year. And each term contains three months for learning and one month for examinations and testing the students like evaluating the students of what they have learnt. So at this early stage of education, children are not allowed or it is not good to teach them bitcoin but from the class three (year 3) and when they have reached 8-9 years. They can learn bitcoin because at that stage they can spell and write.

So teaching them bitcoin at the age of 8-9 or 10 is good but not at the early stage that they are just entering school. Learning has stages. And as you said it has or follow different cultures.
