It was as if the protest triggered the increase in goods and services. The case is even worse than as it was before the protest, people are going through lots now than they used to. I began to wonder if this happened as a result of the government indirectly punishing her citizens for the protest action against them. On a normal there should have been some measures taken to stabilize the economy but the reverse was the case and no one could do anything about it.

Honestly, the country is in a reverse gear and it would take a long time with drastic measures to making sure things works out perfectly well with the economy. I also heard same about the planned protest but I think it would make things worst than it is  now. I hope the organizers would be sensitive enough to see for themselves  what their protest resulted to thinking of the disaster the planned protest would cause for the nation.

As it stands, our highest currency note can't even purchase a litre of gasoline in most part of the country. He actually said that he has heard our grievances, but the whole problem keeps getting worse on a daily basis. The last protest didn't send a proper message, and it's so unfortunate that some people lost their lives, and the country isn't heading in the right direction we all seek.

Truth is, there isn't any drastic measures in place in addressing the problem of the nation. The economy of the country started decaying a long time ago, so I wonder how things will begin to change of all a sudden. The problem of the country is that we all seek a president or representative that will come like a messiah, but that is clearly far from reality. The people that makes up the country is you and I, and seeing the extent of corrupt practices, just a single person can't change the country. It has to be a collective effort. I think the leaders are scared of protest, but it's unfortunate that this protest are hijacked at the end of the day.

The nation is on a stand still and it seems as if there is a halt in every activities because the economy of the nation is not in tandem. The economic policy have failed and not working anymore and our leaders are not bothered about it. They are just there to enrich themselves alone and nothing more.

The change begins with us only if we do the right thing at  our level in the society whereby we make sure things are done accordingly and void of sentiment and the rest of the others  that causes set back in the society.

There is one thing I have come to realize that at our own space, people take advantage of situations to detriment of the masses. Tell me how our own locally produced goods got to do with inflation, are the locally produced goods imported? There are some certain things we need to look into ourselves and do the right things and till then, the society would still be the way it is.

When the protesters were protesting peacefully without destroying anything and the Nigerian Police Force came and throw teargas on them so the protesters became angry and destroyed things. And another 3 protesters were killed in Kaduna again today as the protest dey hot. On this the protesters were unemployed youths were marching down to the government house when the unprofessional Nigeria police spray water  cannons on them. And in the process of the chaos, 3 protesters were killed by the police. The IG should be arrested for this killing.

It's quite disheartening to say that those people died in vein because nothing has changed infact it has only escalated from bad to worse, the price of petrol today is 1350 naira per litre, it was even lower before the protest,  the price of other things has also gone up, lack of electricity has moved up to a different level, I wonder if it's as a result of the protest because I can't just understand why things are now difficult In the country

The worst part of it is that the recent protest was like a complete waste of time. You see how the price of everything doubled even more after the protest. I was discussing with a business woman the other day and she was complaining in frustration. She said that they shouldn't have protested as now what she was buying has doubled in price and she is unable to buy even a little portions as she normally does. What is going on. Fuel keeps increasing over night? This is becoming out of hand. Is it that the government are no longer a little considerate? So many questions left unanswered by our poor governments. It's not fair.
Come to think of that the dangotes refinery was just lunched and has already started producing pms, then NNPC decided to shut the price of Petrol once more.

Looks like the tovernment didn't took time to make people chill out because nothing can be done about these prices really because its happening everywhere around the globe. All the money we have are pegged to USD which its value is also crashing.

What they are saying it that there will be global recession. Althiugh we are far away from where its happening but because our reserves are USD, we are all going down along unless countries like us figured a way to move. I think this is the reason banks all over the world are buying gold.

Even when other countries were doing well Nigerians had no plan to make the country better or should I say Nigerian government had no plan to make the country better and now that it’s a global issue do you think they’ll do anything about it?

The truth is that most Nigerians are just too corrupt to the extent that they can be bought for the cheapest price - and that’s why the protest didn’t yield any tangible results, but now that we’re all suffering lemme see if they’ll all still decide to fold their hands and watch.

In as much as voting wisely is important, we won't really see it's transparency during a second tenure election of a government. Since when I start to get sense, all the government wey I know of, they allows run for tenure twice, i.e E dey rare for any governor or president to rule for one tenure and lose the next election. E come be like say the assigned number of years for every ruler na 8years, rather than 4years. But before this administration enter power, I come across so many people wey sell their vote on election day for money wey no reach N1500. We actually think say vote no dey count, but that's not always true for every election wey the president/governor na incoming. These politicians understand that the vote of the Masses matters, na why dem dey share money to buy the votes.

Trust me during the next election a lot of people are still going to seek their votes - so if the current government if able to give out free money and cash they are people that will collect and vote him as the president.

Mate!, This was the most disgusting thing I came across during that period of protest. I couldn't believe my eyes as it sounded too bad to be true, until I saw some videos that surfaced on the internet. The people who were protesting against other protesters didn't even look like people that are financially buoyant. They looked more like those who were hungry, and their hunger was used as a weakness. The government knows what majority of the citizens wants (money), so they use it in manipulating/luring those who are badly in need.

There is no way the government can buy the vote of a man who is financially buoyant,  meeting the needs of his family, and understands how democracy works. In other sense, the government are not after those that can survive on their own, but are after those that are struggling to survive.

Actually most of them claimed that they had no idea of what they were about to do - according to the information they got, they were supposed to meet and have a little discussion but it turned out that they were to go and protest… if you check the video that surfaced on the internet you’ll notice one where the person that was supposed to speak and calm the public not to engage in any for of protest - the guy later started complaining about the hunger in the country.

There is no way the government can buy the vote of a man who is financially buoyant,  meeting the needs of his family, and understands how democracy works. In other sense, the government are not after those that can survive on their own, but are after those that are struggling to survive.

See the government will always look for ways to exploit them - remember that they are also humans - if they government should meet them and give them a huge some [not the chicken change that is being distributed to the masses] you think they’ll still want to support “end bad governance rally”?… They are also humans so it’s possible for the government to still take advantage of them.

If you go to various polling units during elections you’ll see that those sharing the money and buying people's votes are not just street boys but instead men that are financially buoyant - you’ll see them in their expensive cars distributing money and calling people to the corner trying to convince them to vote their candidate.

Action they say speaks louder than words, but we find ourselves in a country where we believe that words speaks louder than actions. We are in a country where the government are not always aware of the problems that the citizens face until a planned protest have occurred. The government are so much scared of protest, but are still failing to do the needful.

Just like you've said, we've been hoping for decades, and our system and economy keeps decaying like a radioactive isotope. Nothing will be done except the citizens stand up to get their freedom and what they truly deserve. And also, I think Nigerians are waiting for a president that will come as a messiah and change the whole situation in a blink of an eye. This is not a movie. We have to start from somewhere and stand up for ourselves because no one will do that for us
