What are your thoughts on Universal Basic Income (UBI)

I didn't know governments have been experimenting Universal Basic Income even before I have learned about it. The term is just something else in every country but generally its the same concept as giving monthly support to people on certain places, a city or people in a low income town.

Interest that every experiment, they find different result depending on the kind of community and I guess they are also measuring the success of the program base on how happy the people are while the program runs and whether it improves thier lives and whether people are encouraged to find jobs.

At your current status, what would be the effect of the UBI to you if you got this monthly for a year?  Are you in favor of UBI or not?

For me the idea is good but this is I think prone to anomalies I mean favorite by most corrupt politicians and this could also lead to people being so dependent to the government aid which is currently happening here in my third world country. I also belong to a poor family but as far as I remember I only got maybe 3-4 times financial and medical aid so yeah it's okay for me because I know there are some other people who need the most of it but the thing is they became abusive they became agressive when aid was delayed or was not on it's way I just don't understand if it was really worth it or not.

We may not fail to pay the expenses of food and drink or electricity and housing bills compared to the costs of rent and health care, so providing support for both rent and health care is much better than sending monthly amounts

There are criterias to pass before a person or a family will be qualified to bet a monthly UBI in my country. They check the backgrounds of a person before they grant so its seem fair to provide assistance to the poor income families.

But they should be reminded every time that there is a time when it will be over like this UBI is a contract which they need to find ways to make money before that date so that they will not be dependent.

It wouldn't impact much to my status and I'm not in favor of UBI. I believe it's not going to help anyone and things will get costlier because of it and those who get UBI may not even consider doing any type of hard working and thus the world will start to change overtime.

Instead of doing that UBI the countries at universal level should make agreements to limit the taxes and that could be much helpful instead of that UBI. But we all know that something like that isn't possible to happen anytime soon.

This is what I was concerned of to be honest because this actually has happened and is still happening here in my third world country where people are getting dependent on it and even wanted to get more which is alarming given that this was only a campaign to help them out temporarily and yeah they really are not doing anything that could change their situation and if there is then it's my bad.

One part of that video said that in US, if you will give each and every person $1000, it will cost them around $4 Trillion per year. I don't know the exact numbers, but the point is that, the more money we will be releasing in public, the weaker it will be. I mean we've seen what happened with the USD currency after Joe Biden gave stimulus package to people. Before the pandemic, $1 = 50 PHP here in our country. After the pandemic, $1 = 57-58 PHP already. That just shows that the currency weaken and the main reason that I know is the stimulus package. I'm not an economist and for sure, there are many factors that might caused it.

At the end of the day, I don't think that this will help people. It might help only the people that are considered "the poorest of the poor" but for those average people, the effect of this will be little to none. I'm against it just because I see it useless because prices of commodities will rise after that.

4 trillion x 24= 96trillion for the world which is way too costly

just like in the video it briefly mentioned that many men have tried to incorporate this kind of concept before under different names another concept i can think of that is quite similar to this is karl marx’s stateless society where no one is rich and no one is poor however obviously this did not work due to greed political injustice which is more likely to happen again with universal basic income

not just me but a lot of people may become too dependent on this and not boost productivity why work harder if you’re going to receive the same thing regardless of what you do, right? another thing why this might just not work is because it doesn’t really consider inflation since more people can afford more then the prices will rise as well and the money will just lose its value and the concept of ubi might be protested to be nullified

That's why I find it costly and useless at the same time.
I'm not an expert economist, but this will have an effect that's almost the same as when Biden gave those stimulus package to his country men.

I don't see any benefits of this from the families that will receive it aside from the fact that they will be able to buy more commodities that they need, but that's for the short term. In the long run, it will have more downsides than upsides. Correct me if I'm wrong with this because I'm not an expert.

Besides greed talent gets involved. Some people really do good even great work. Some people suck at the same work.

To give a great worker the same as a shitty worker is obviously unfair.

And think of a pro athlete in any sport the top players get paid more the poor players get paid less or even let go.

You would need one government and no religions which is not going to happen.

i think we are a;ready in the peak that new generations are just too lazy to work. the ones that are not are the ones that experienced hardships like the people in Africa. this is why the economy there is unbothered with what is going on today, they are already poor since.

its deep thoughts, its not really true. nothing to lose means a person doesn't have anything left. no wife, no kids to care for or no money/assets at all to protect.

lets see if this person have the freedom to buy something when he has nothing. i bet this person will just rob or beg for a cookie. or most likely do anything to receive UBI or else die in hunger.
people will accept whats given. regardless of whats the catch, they will take the UBI in exchange for their freedom. if the government will need their DNA, they will give it when the stomach says so.
