What do you think of GPU Renting?

So it's not uncommon to see GPU being used, from Gaming, Mining to Running AI models, and more.. Since this is how GPU is widely used by companies, crypto projects.

So I saw that in an article, normal individuals can contribute their unused GPU resources by renting it out to earn in crypto. I believe there are millions of GPUs that have unused resources and users can rent it out to others so that they can use it to train and run AI models. I heard some people discussing that, it kinda seems better than mining, cos you earn more tokens while you contribute to that specific project.. So guys, you think GPU renting is better than mining? I know it's essential for keeping blockchains running  ;D. but I believe 20% of people can use it to profit from their GPU.

I did a bit reading about renting our GPU to someone else, but it's not as attractive as i initially expect. The one who plan to borrow our GPU also expect our device to have fairly good RAM, CPU and internet connection (to transfer data). So unless you happen to have fairly good device with fast GPU, don't expect any real profit.

What I mean is, currently on Bitget,

Stop with the shilling, all your posts are about bitget this bitget that, we get it!

GPU mining is dead, for AI Nvidia ships thousands of H100 and H200, and for AI training or generation you simply can't compete with it at reasonable revenue, a 10 4090 setup might be cheaper than an H100 but because of Nlink FP8 you get the same result for one order of magnitude less power, so why would anyone pay you enough to matter when they could just rent for a datacenter or buy their own?

Neah, renting GPU goes the way of folding@home for cpu.

since mining is a lot more expensive considering the hardware and software as well as electrical costs, renting gpu may be a more attractive option mining can also be more difficult in terms of technical knowledge and is a lot more complex than if you were to just rent out gpu

it seems like gpu renting will yield higher costs and has a lot of use cases so it can surely benefit you one way or another

I personally think that starting gpu mining at the moment is not very profitable and especially if it is for bitcoin because the already ready Asicminer has started to replace the places of gpu mining. And mining will be more difficult in the future and for those who will start new mining, mining will be a kind of loss project.
Now if you want to start GPUmining then you do a calculation with the electrical cost of your country and later if you see there is a possibility of getting profit then you can do mining using GPU in this case altcoin mining will be better than bitcoin mining. But be very careful in coin selection.

You are right Starting GPU mining now especially for Bitcoin is not profitable due to advanced ASIC miners. Future mining will become more harder potentially leading to financial losses. If OP still want to try GPU mining so I think he/s consider these steps like calculate your area electrical costs and assess potential profits and also focus on altcoin mining more profitable than Bitcoin and carefully choose coins based on market demand and mining difficulty . Also think about alternative options like trusted cloud mining or joining mining pool or investing in ASIC miners. Keep in mind that mining profitability changes mostly so stay updated on market trends to adjust your strategy.

Yeap, if we talk about bitcoin mining then we must admit that Satoshi Nakamato was a genius although I don't know what name Satoshi Nakamat is actually a person or it is a team name.
However, Satoshi Nakamoto has set the Bitcoin mining algorithm in such a way that the more miners there are, the higher the mining difficulty will be. For example, if we see that first, we could do bitcoin mining through a laptop with the Pentium processor, then slowly the processor went to gpu mining, then mining was started through a mining rig with many GPUs and finally we saw this ASIC miner, now maybe there is more in the future. Advanced technology will come. But I doubt whether Bitcoin mining will be profitable by then. I've gone back to buying mining equipment a few times because the costs here outweigh my profits.

I said in my previous post that if someone wants to do bitcoin mining not only in the future but also with gpu, then it will not be possible to be very profitable by mining there. And the thing is that even if you do GPU mining in altcoins, it will be profitable, but there will definitely be high risk here because the condition of all the coins that can be mined in altcoins is not always good. And mining has to be done long-term. In this case, if someone is holding altcoin long-term, then he has to carefully analyze and then choose the coin, otherwise his mining will be in vain.
