Are there any other functions of Calendar besides displaying dates?

Hello friends, I hope you are all in the best condition at all times  ...

I just want to ask about the "Calendar" menu in altcoinstalks... The calendar menu is the navigation bar, and when opening this forum and the location of the navigation button is at the top of each page of this forum... yes, it displays the dates and months from 2017 to 2030.. until now the button that I can click when opening the calendar is the word "Week x" on Sunday in the calendar that is displayed... I just want to know, does this have other functions besides displaying the date?

Maybe I'm not up to date with the features of this forum, that's why I'm asking about this too... if there is a feature like a reminder integrated into this calendar, that's pretty good.. at least the calendar here has more functions than the calendar on my desktop device. Unfortunately I'm having trouble finding those other features.. maybe someone can help?

I never opened the Calendar section before, and while reading your post, I thought maybe the calendar was there to search for posts made on that date. Like some X week on some X data on some X year, and I will be shown the number of posts or posts made in that timeframe. But nope, it's just a simple calendar, which I think the admin did not give any time even though the forum is getting more traffic now. I mean, if users can't interact with it, then why is it here in the first place?

Maybe the admin added it to test some skills and will be adding more to this calendar in the near future and now as you have raised concerns about it. The admin might spend some time on it when he is free.

If there is no other function besides displaying the date and year, I think this feature is not useful enough in the forum, especially since every device we use to access must have a calendar that can even be accessed offline... in the device calendar we can even create events or reminders.

There is the option to post events, have just tested and it works. I assume at present it's restricted to certain users given it's lack of use.

With admin there is usually a longer-term plan behind these things, even if not in place at the moment.

Yeah, most likely it is only accessible to group of individuals, or to certain users.

I'm not sure though what will be the best plan for calendar besides the date itself. Or do we want to see what's on the horizon for let's say what event is nearing on date? Like blockchain conferences or others that relate to crypto?

It's intended for events. So you post a topic with a date and it appears in the calendar. For example conferences etc, but otherwise could be for hard/soft fork dates as another example. Ideally for now Crypto Meetups & Events section would allow to post not just topics but new dates (a topic with a date) that would appear in the calendar, then at least it would have an immediate purpose even if would likely attract spammers, but not sure how difficult this would be to integrate either.

I suspect the calendar otherwise remains reserved for paying/subscription users, but that'd be an answer for @admin to clarify.

There are other features they show or display to us even at the cause of checking for dates, the first is that on the calendar, you have the privilege of seeing other special occasions with their dates and secondly, we can also set a reminder on special events on the calendar at any point in time, most people uses the calendar in setting up for a plan or budget over time, because it helps them in making the right fixtures for their events and activities.

i tried to go back to previous years and did not really find anything of importance unless i missed some and someone else can fill in?

it seems like it’s there for display feature only but it would be useful if general crypto news or events would have been in the calendar to alert or let the members of the forum aware of course i don’t expect all events to be displayed but only the biggest most relevant ones maybe we, members, can submit proposals also to let the admin put important dates on the calendar

Unfortunately I can't see that feature right now... when I open the calendar tab, it only shows the day, date, month and year.. there is no special colored date that informs something important.... Even the past or past dates have no indication of any important events, including the bitcoin halving that occurred on April 20, 2024, there is no special color on that day.

I really pretty much haven't noticed anything the calendar does. However I can see some dates at my end seems to be highlighted for some reason. Anyways I think it would be nice for admin to add other functions and tweaks to it if they don't fully exist. I don't know if it calls for a lot of work but I think important dates relating to crypto events and stuff should be indicated there .
Probably it should be more like some kind of highlight to show crypto events or occurrences . Depending on the importance too it would be nice to also highlight important crypto news like ones that are of genuine effects on the crypto ecosystem.
