The problem is that scammers always appear with new faces and methods. People involved in crypto get scammed at least once in their crypto journey, no matter how experienced they are. This mostly happens because they don't pay attention. We know how scammers' traps work, yet we fall for these traps. As I said, it happens because sometimes we get too busy and do not pay attention.

For example, I was scammed a couple of months ago by phishing. It's not like I didn't know how phishing works. However, it happened because I did not double-check the URL before connecting my wallet. That mistake drained my metamask wallet.
Scammers are smart people with bad attitudes and always have new methods to commit fraud. We may have been deceived before, but we must always be careful not to let it happen again. Although to be honest, I still get deceived even though I try to avoid it, because their methods are always different.
You're right—scammers are often very clever and constantly adapt their tactics to exploit new vulnerabilities. Staying vigilant and informed is crucial, but it's understandable that even with the best precautions, new schemes can still catch us off guard. Regularly updating your knowledge on common scams and using robust security practices can help reduce the risk.

I am still yet to understand this phrase used by a lot of people "if it's sounds too good to be true, then it probably is" - probably is what exactly? Is it probably it's true, or probably it's not true? I always get this confusion whenever I read that line of phrase.

Anyways, like every normal human being on the internet hustling to make ends meet, scammers are hustling too, and there is this popular slangs in my country which goes like this "when mugu fall, guy man go chop" it simply says that, when a foolish person falls, the wiser person will eat good. So, for every one of us doing legit stuffs on the internet, we must strive to always be that wiser man, it takes nothing other than time and study, read to gain awareness, knowledge and information, being one of two steps ahead of scammers always will ensure you never be a victim to their games and tactics.

The link you embedded cannot be opened on my computer, maybe the website is blocked by the ISP I use.

My little opinion about the world of fraud is not much different from the posts of my friends above, trapping and deceiving tactics always evolve, when one method is no longer reliable, another new method appears, so having a reference to just one method, in my opinion, is only enough to educate for a while, it cannot be used as a permanent reference, because we also have to be more updated in avoiding such fraud.

I am still yet to understand this phrase used by a lot of people "if it's sounds too good to be true, then it probably is" - probably is what exactly? Is it probably it's true, or probably it's not true? I always get this confusion whenever I read that line of phrase.
BTW, in which context does the word appear? I don't know where to find the sentence.

Well, if you can't or don't know where you find the sentence, then it possibly or probably means that you have not read the op, go back to the first page and read the op from the beginning down to the last word, you will find the sentence some where in there.

But then, let me help, and thanks, it's my pleasure 😊😊

Exactly. Just as apps get updates from time to time and more scam schemes and strategies get busted from time to time, more and more ways to scam people also pop u from time to time and this is the point where being current comes into play. Normally one is expected to do proof readings from time to time just to make sure that we get updated on newer ways that these scammers or even hackers use to get advantage over people.
Sometimes luck also falls on our side because one can literally not be too careful as we humans are prone to forget certain things or make mistakes sometimes.

It's like they rebrand their products every month. The Ponzi scheme scams were rebranded in multiple ways. The new trend is that that they create a shopping website and make people believe they can sell those products (which do not even exist) and make money from themhem. The scammers convince people to invest (buy those products) and sell those products to others.

I saw how one of the social platforms, Ring ID, f*cked a lot of innocent people in my country. I do not remember the name, but another investment project looted the country. They scammed a massive $1 billion dollars. Some of our local forum members lost a lot of money as well.

I'm sorry to hear that you experienced a phishing scam. It's true that even experienced users can fall victim to scams, especially in moments of distraction or when they're overwhelmed with tasks. Scammers are constantly evolving their tactics, making it challenging to stay vigilant all the time. Your experience is a reminder of the importance of maintaining security best practices, even when we're busy. Using tools like hardware wallets, double-checking URLs, and enabling additional security features can add layers of protection. While these steps might seem time-consuming, they can help reduce the risk of falling into such traps.

How to avoid scams for dummies

- Don't click on random links

I would just leave it at that given that that is how the vast majority of scams manage to wipe your wallet, with just one click to a zero-day exploit or something like that, but some people are actually naive enough to send coins to any random address that someone leaves in their messages. So I guess that would be a second rule.

I am still yet to understand this phrase used by a lot of people "if it's sounds too good to be true, then it probably is" - probably is what exactly? Is it probably it's true, or probably it's not true? I always get this confusion whenever I read that line of phrase.

"Probably" in this phrase means most likely it IS too good to be true and a scam. Hope that helps  ;)

We all should frequently update our knowledge with the latest scams and best practices for security. As many have mentioned, even experienced users have fallen for some schemes. Vigilance is necessary even if it takes more effort.

Yep, drainers nowadays are quite advanced. And if you do what you described afterward, accepting some coins or signing up contracts that aren't really associated with reliable stuff - it would be your loss and responsibility (I mean, a person that would do it).

Yes, it is advisable to be very vigilant when dilling with crypto platforms and even individuals. Many people has been scammed in one way or another; ICO sales options was the most affected sales process that has surfered a lots of scam, and it pave the way for Dex scams. Decentralized exchange presales is currently suffering huge scams and I think that the failure of the process also gave way for IEO sales. IEOs has been doing well, at least, there has not been news for scam but I encourage everyone to watch out and be very vigilant.

Good job my friend, if you always do research in detecting scams. that's a good thing to do and sharing with fellow crypto lovers is a good deed in your life. Because not all crypto lovers understand and know that scams are everywhere, especially in the crypto world. Especially newbies, they don't have much experience and knowledge.

Stay safe out there, and remember—if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Let's protect our wallets and each other!
Feel free to drop your thoughts or any experiences you’ve had with scams in the comments. Let’s help each other stay safe in the crypto world!

Scammers are always on the rise and when you are able to dictate their tactics, they will come up with another new one that will most likely get few people scammed before many will find out about it. The most important part is that we keep enlightening each other about the latest scams and how to avoid them. Evolving technology give rise to new types of scams that can get people into losses easily, continuous updates on them can help. I can’t remember any scam I’ve come across before personally, mostly I use to get aware of them before they come posing at me. I’m kinda sceptical with new inventories that may likely portray scams, so if there’s any, I usually get aware before anything happens.

I agree. We should adapt to the situation and come victorious in the end if we want to stay afloat in the market.
