Peter Schiff vs Michael Saylor: Will Bitcoin Burn Investors?
« on: September 11, 2024, 05:55:30 AM »

Peter Schiff is back on his usual tirade and rant and this time he is challenging Michael Saylor to a debate on Bitcoin's viability and worth as he is accusing the latter to be "misleading the public with overly optimistic predictions about Bitcoin’s future."

As a strong proponent and believer in the value of gold over cryptocurrency, Peter Schiff is the go-to-guy if you want a comment that puts Bitcoin on the negative scale of things. Schiff accused Saylor of promoting a path the will "typically culminates in substantial financial losses for most.

Schiff said: “It begins with a sucker and ends with heavy losses.”

Saylor: "I’ve seen the light. Bitcoin is gonna change the world. It’s unstoppable.”

Ladies and gentlemen, which side of the debate would you bet your money?

Your truth will be what you believe in and not what will actually be right, I will not confirm that gold is more profitable than bitcoin because bitcoin today is much more profitable than gold, but if you look at how bitcoin grew before and how it is growing now, then it is already worth thinking about the fact that you can forget about sloganag (bitcoin at $ 1,000,000)
Simply no one will buy it at such a price, and at this price there are very few people buying it,
Everyone is ready to buy it for 10-20k and sell it to someone for 100k, but who are those who buy it?
If you look at gold, it is always growing and it most likely will not bring a big profit, but it does not fall like bitcoin, gold is of course a savings tool and not an earning tool, and bitcoin is now a tool for earning, so how can they be compared?

You should have known Peter Sheriff for years. All he knows is to be a bitcoin critic. He has been doing it since many years ago when bitcoin is not yet relevant as it is today and when its price is very low. He said bitcoin price will go to zero but bitcoin was the best performing coin during the time.

there’s no point of listening to people with biases already whatever facts you present them they are just not going to listen it’s like you are talking to someone with closed ears i would accept his criticism if he also acknowledged the positive aspects of bitcoin at least i know he can be objective and reasonable otherwise he is just a hater with an audience

History already has it that Peter Schiff isn't the only one that sees Bitcoin the opposite way, and he won't be the only one to see Bitcoin the opposite way. We've had so many people that once condemned Bitcoin and cryptocurrency, calling it a trash that will possibly crash some day, but today, those people that condemn Bitcoin are already part of the Bitcoin community and are investors as well.

I just checked Peter Schiff X account, and it's obvious that he is 100% anti-bitcoinist. Well, we will be waiting for him on this side. We are willing to welcome him whenever he is ready to join the Bitcoin community, but hope he doesn't realize late.

Ladies and gentlemen, which side of the debate would you bet your money?

I expect many user on this forum would bet their money on Saylor. Although personally i would avoid such debate, especially when Schiff is involved. I still remember he didn't write down his password and recovery words, where later he lost access and decide to blame Bitcoin for his lack of self-responsibility[1].

Schiff's recent comment is not without reason. Although his predictions about BTC has been wrong before, his favorite Gold has risen and been hitting record highs. There are still reports that countries/banks are reducing their dollar reserves in exchange of Gold/Silver. This is in preparation for de-dollarization.

Let them say whatever they want to say. Haters will always say bad about Bitcoin, no matter what is happening. Actually, this will not be a big problem for those of us who already understand their opinions and understand cryptocurrency, especially Bitcoin.

It's just that, the problem is when we talk about beginners in Bitcoin and also lay people who don't know Bitcoin or are new to Bitcoin. This is what might be easily influenced. So, those who don't like it, will dislike it even more. And beginners who have just entered Bitcoin, will then easily panic and worry, so that they actually make bad decisions when the market conditions are dropping.

This is why, we must also be diligent in helping to raise various good news and provide information that might be misleading in the midst of the circulating society. Although it is not easy, of course, it is quite difficult, because after all, these conditions will provide pros and cons in society.

For me, personally, I believe and will always believe that Bitcoin will bring me better result, better investment, and better condition. No matter what's happening right now, Bitcoin will be trusted even it's in the market drop condition, be cause, we trust Bitcoin.

Of course, the vast majority will be with Saylor because we are here in the Bitcoin and cryptocurrency lovers forum, but despite that, Schiff has his popularity and fans who prefer gold to Bitcoin.

In my opinion, there is no need to get into this debate because neither man will change his convictions, time alone will prove who is right and who was wrong, so each person has his convictions that are difficult to change and it is better for each man to work on his convictions as he believes in them.

One is hyper-negative, the other is hyper-positive. And yet the crypto community already knows which one is going to be prevalent if there was ever a debate, because we've already made our choices!

Similarly with gold investors, most of them are big fans of Peter Schiff so they will just listen to anything he has to say and discard conflicting opinions from people like Saylor.

Ladies and gentlemen, which side of the debate would you bet your money?

when peter is busy blaspheming bitcoin holders with sentences of big losses due to bitcoin scams, bitcoin holders feel multiple profits.

however i see peter as someone who wants attention, there is no reason to bet on his victory, michael saylor will continue to be a winner.

Re: Peter Schiff vs Michael Saylor: Will Bitcoin Burn Investors?
« Reply #11 on: September 12, 2024, 03:29:59 PM »
Schiff's recent comment is not without reason. Although his predictions about BTC has been wrong before, his favorite Gold has risen and been hitting record highs. There are still reports that countries/banks are reducing their dollar reserves in exchange of Gold/Silver. This is in preparation for de-dollarization.

Schiff is what is called the gold bug, and the only reason why he mentions Bitcoin is to promote his business - because BTC is always a hot topic, and he skillfully uses it, regardless of the fact that he probably does not fully understand what he is talking about.

His predictions about gold are also wrong, because 10 years ago (you can find articles from that period) in which he claims that gold will reach $5000, but today it is only at 50% of that amount. As for some countries hoarding gold, I have been hearing/reading this for more than 20 years, and good luck to everyone who is trying to "push" the USD out of the international scene, we all know that it is not an easy mission at all.

Hehehe, Peter Schiff again  ;D

At this point it seems much more like his personal anger at BTC than logic
He takes advantage of any fall to criticize and then disappears when BTC rises
When a person gets to that point, even with so much knowledge, it's hard to take them seriously
And it doesn't have to be as extreme as Saylor risking all his money on BTC (although it could work)
I prefer to be cautious and stay in the middle ground

~snip~

I wouldn't say that there is any anger involved, but as I wrote before, I think it's just about him using BTC to promote his business, which of course is directly connected to gold. The media uses his every statement to make a story, which is quite expected, but it is unexpected that this man receives so much attention from the crypto community, which still behaves like a small child who needs to be convinced that something is good or bad.

Bitcoin and gold have very few points of contact, so all these comparisons make less and less sense considering so much that has been said on this topic since Bitcoin existed.

I personally don't take sides especially if we are talking about investments because both are good choice depending on our purpose of investment if we like stable assets then we go for precious metals but if we like high risk high reward then Bitcoin would be a great choice. Michael and Peter are good at investing both assets and choosing which is which doesn't really matter if you have the capital because you can actually have both of those assets.
