i was really glad they used bitcoin to donate to different causes but it made me pause and wonder why had they used bitcoin specifically? well almost all the projects they donated to have something to do with bitcoin, technology, digital wallet, encryption, decentralization and education

their donation of bitcoin i am sure has gotten a lot of attention even from those who are not really aware of bitcoin/crypto yet so i am glad that organization like this is contributing to many causes while also promoting bitcoin

Because it is easy to get the money to everyone in bitcoin without the government stepping in and freezing people's assets.

Think about it. If you received one of these grants, and you are already a hated person by your government, then you trying to make something like this and getting funding for it will naturally raise alarm bells and they could try to censor it, but that is impossible with cryptocurrency.

I am aware that there are many groups with money promoting human rights all over the world but this is my first time to read on the works of The Human Rights Foundation with its Bitcoin Development Fund which is essentially funding many projects related to Bitcoin and how people can have access to its benefits away from the prying eyes of the government...and even more. I am sure this is an organization and a project that is really worth supporting with...using our Bitcoin for the benefit of humanity especially the less privileged and oppressed people all over the world.

This award is is part of their Bitcoin Development Fund grants. So it would look weird if they choose to send fiat or altcoin rather than Bitcoin.

Let's be honest here - Bitcoin is the best way to break out of authoritarian regimes followed by Monero.

I don't think you could even organize a fundraiser for that in other crypto currencies.

I'm really happy to hear this. Making donations via Bitcoin is not just a way of creating awareness, but to also encourage the use of Bitcoin transactions across boarders and regions, thereby breaking the barrier that tends to limit the transaction of money from one person to another across different nations.

This is actually my first time of hearing about it too. It's obvious that the  human right foundation understands how the monetary system works in so many countries all over the world, which is why they felt it would be ideal to get Bitcoin instead.

Those website probably report this grant, but i didn't find it from quick google search. Maybe i missed it or have low position on the search result.
