I agree with this, two witnesses as trusted members would be good enough.
It's going to be obvious if someone is no longer with us if he becomes inactive or if his writing style changes a lot after big period of account inactivity.
Problem is what happens in case of death of important forum members like admin or moderators that have the keys and control over forum.
Better to have some prepared solutions for cases like that.

I doubt this forum (or forum in general) willing to put resource to properly verify the truth or have proper procedure handling account belong to the deceased. Examples you mentioned isn't directly related with this forum, where i agree with @bitmover the forum shouldn't intervene on such matter. And in case of unpaid debt, the lender only can rely on goodwill of those who receive the inheritance asset/money.

This is what I mean from the beginning of making this thread because I intend to direct this topic to the admin, staff or moderator if they die, there must be a backup or can handle the Altcoinstalks forum. And of all that there must be a trusted member to replace everything.

Is the admin dies, the forum will probably go offline because nobody would be paying for its costs. Nothing is free in this life...

If a moderator or staff dies or disappear, he will just be replaced for being inactive. If the account is hacked and abuse, people will notice and replace him.

Op your thread was good it was when your asked the question if "special treatment would be given to them". No there will be no special treatment for them or those accounts. I have seen such case in the neighbour forum whereby a forum participant died and another forum user brought the news to the forum and we only gave our condolent messages. Now dead is inevitable and if such happened the account will be tag with a strike to notify the public that they account is no more.

Oh My God, are you serious? Are you serious that if Admin dies, the altcoinstalks forum will stop operating?
Is there another solution so that the altcoinstalks forum can continue to live even if the admin dies one day?

*I do not pray for the admin to die but this is just a possibility that will happen because everyone does not know how far the human lifespan can be achieved.

Btw, may I suggest to Admin that if there are members who are known to have dedication to the forum such as Staff, Moderators get a "RIP" or "In Memorial" badge if they are known to have passed away?
Because I saw in the Topic The different types of Ranks & Membergroups there is no such badge yet, and maybe given a symbol like a wilted red rose or whatever that symbolizes the member has passed away.

This is altcoinstalks, and altcoinstalks is different from other forums. Here there are also many honors for those who have high dedication who continue to advance the forum.  And if those who are dedicated to the forum such as Staff, Moderator, President, VP President die, then I think it would be good to be honored by giving the best and beautiful badge as a souvenir.

It's just a speculation/possibility. It could be different if,

It is obligatory for all members who die to come forward and confirm it so that we can change their status on the forum.

I never thought to write this thread but age must have a limit. What if a member here dies but he has a complex case that is unknown to his friends in the real world.
For example:

- he is in the middle of a contest that looks like a candidate to be the winner and needs confirmation of attendance.
- he is doing escrow transactions with other members.
- he has debts to fellow altcoinstalks members.
- and there are still many other tasks that he has not done with his relations here.

I don't know about this forum but recently on BTT a member (I doubt the name was Bitcoinergirl) shared a similar scene where some X member (X because I don't remember the name of the person in discussion here) took loan but never returned it and the member was very reputable on BTT that whenever he took the loan he returned it and he had some good reputation.

Therefore he was not given much negative trust from others but only from the person he took a loan and I think there was a neutral tag too to let others know he still owned the debt, didn't know where he went, or even was alive or not.

So the point is nothing really can be done but the account will be given scam, or other relevant tags like members of BTT gave to that member.

If the administrator does not fulfill requirement X (send an email, answer a question...) for a certain period of time, all the necessary information about the servers and the domain will be sent to a certain person through a smart contract. It's a stupid thing that just occurred to me, but if something like that could be done, I think the problem would be solved, at least partially.

This idea probably won't be read by the admin for at least 3 years (like some of my other stupid ideas), but it's already written

The best advise i could give on this is for us to live our lives as if there is not going to be another day, when we have such mentality on our subconsciousness, we are going to be more careful in whatever thing we do, we are also going to make an alternative or back on any aspect where necessary because we don't know what tomorrow might be.

definitely in life people die, same applies on every platform, but some died and we don't hear about them, but if one is the type that is so committed to doing something, then people around him would be aware of anything about him, but i don't think the forum have to be responsible for any natural occurrence except he already passed the account to someone before his demise.

The way I see some managers are been active here on the forum, the few ones I know and see around here has one or two friends from their local board they look upto and communicate even outside the forum. Sometimes, when a manager has not made payment or sick, he usually reach out to one person to make announcement on behalf of him.

I think when someone that is popular here dies, there is no way nobody in this forum wouldn't get a hint. We will definitely get someone that knows about their cause of illness and death. I pray no one dies in this forum now.

There is a big difference between account owner and forum owner, so question needs to be rephrased.
Regular member is not doing anything important, except maybe some of them who are helping with moderation.
Only admin can answer if he has something ready to secure the forum in case of his death.

And I think the aims are almost the same. The other forum is talking talking about cryptocurrency and bitcoin in particular and other cryptocurrencies but here it there is no particular cryptocurrency but all at once. But all the forums are discussing crypto so if we discuss something here can also be discussed in others. Dedicated to the forum is different from the positions you mentioned. There were members in the forum who were handling those positions and today many are not here mostly the senators. And it is better to honour them now if you wish when they are still active in the forum so they can also benefit from it and not when they are not active again. And if you tag them "RIP or
in Memorial" when they have "gone behind the rift" will not make sense.

Indeed, if only 1 person takes care of everything about this forum, then that's it, it will all end if the hosting, domain, and other fees are not paid, then everything will end, it's just a matter of how long it will last, depending on the last payment deadline.

And regarding anyone here, if someone has died:
- If there is a family who understands crypto, there are 2 possibilities, they will continue the account, or they will give up by providing information and evidence regarding the owner's condition, through the account.

However, if no one knows about this, then that's it, it means it ends there and is considered inactive. Because here there is no census or anything.
