What if the Account Owner Dies?

       -       How can we determine or know if one of the forum members in the account here is the owner has died since we are all anonymous here? There has never been such an incident here on this platform, even on the other forum.

So I don't understand what special treatment the OP is talking about. All I know is that we can only see that it has not been active for a few months or even years, that we are not sure if the owner of the account is still alive or dead; that's the only thing we can think of.

You are right to say that we possibly have not seen or come across any of such unfortunate incident as losing a user of this forum, but then, you are absolutely wrong to assume that such as well have not happened on the other forum.

I can give you countless number of profiles on btt that belongs to user who are now late (dead), and on most of this profiles, you see a special badge or title in the profile information, and that special title is "in memoriam", any user with that title on their btt profile shows that the user is late (dead).

And I believe that is exactly the same thing that op is suggesting the admin emulate and bring to this forum as well, as an easy way to identify profiles belonging to users that are late.

So far, we cannot detect whether the account owner has died except from reports from people around them. And to avoid false reports, there must be other members who validate it too... it would be better if there was proof.

That thing works for those people who don't prefer privacy and who are known by their community members but the ones who prefer privacy and use VPN's and TOR, and also don't visit their local boards may die alone and no body would share any news about their death. And, yes the ones who have friends from their local area may get reported after their death.

How can someone access your account if you die?  To gain access to an account, one must know the account's password or have the account's email address.  If you tell someone about it in advance, they can have access to it.  But I don't think it's fair to use someone else's account.  Because you can build your account's reputation while also gaining trust from other forum members, you may be trusted and trusted by others.  But he will never know when you will die so if someone else logs into your account and scans it to borrow money from someone then who will take the responsibility.  So I don't think that reason should be valid for someone else to use his account after death.  So if you die then your account will also die from this forum from that day.  Means it will become inactive forever

I was once inactive here for many months, but my account was still intact. The admin will not do anything if the account chooses to be inactive, so I believe there is no special treatment yet unless the community is informed.

Op is suggesting nor asking that there should be a special treatment for the decease and I don't know the kind of treatment he is asking of. OP can tell the kind of treatment should be given to the decease. And the only thing I know that can happen is the label badge 📛 on the profile of the decease to indicate that he is no more. Most of the cases in other forums, someone from their country would made the announcement and condolence messages would be dropped by concerned members. Well Op has something to do about the special treatment.

Very true. There is no way to verify whether a non active account owner has been died or not. I never heard any social media account or forum account can determine the owner has passed away. Even we impalement AI tool, I think it won't be accurate to determine the status of the owner. We only can get the news from the close people of the dead owner. Yes, in same cases, we know it from their close people. But sure, it is not impossible there are cases that we don't know the owner has passed away because there is no one telling us in the forum.

I don't think anyone knows when he or she is going to die and dead is unpredictable. It can comes at anytime and when someone suddenly died the account here will be redundant. And before people in the forum will know, it will take sometimes unless someone who is close to the deceased inform the forum what has happened.

And it is not really nice to use someone account and if people know that the owner of the account is no more then a special badge or tag will be place on the profile. Building account here is not hard if the person is account for one year. He will rank up to Sr. Or Hero member.

This is not something that can be delineated much on. A user dies not know when he/she would leave the world and as such, when they’re into something that requires the family members to know or be informed about, it’s better they do it so that they don’t become hated on for doing an incomplete task that requires to be completely especially those ghat involves incentives between the two parties.

Some forum members have friends offline that are also here, for such people, it would be easier for them to send a notice here. Being anonymous is good but if you have something doing that may cause you something later or make you feel indebted, you should at least let your close ones know, even a close friend should know in order to follow up for things like this. It is not of great concern for us even when we know we won’t be there forever and don’t know when we’ll be gone forever.

Personally no one knows about my crypto activities because i want to keep them private. So if something happens to me after i die then everything will stay that way. But if anyone knows about crypto and opens my laptop or mobile then they can use all that. You can get idea from btt that many high rank accounts are inactive. Those accounts have been inactive for a long time, maybe the owner died or left the crypto life. We avoid the subject and talk about the present, because the future is unknown.

So that they are not left perpetually handicapped. To make this possible,  there should be a room, where next of kins can impute there information,  for east accessibility.

I don't know if I understood your post correctly... Are you saying that the account owner's family members should have something similar to insurance or a pension?.

I think this is 100% impossible as it would involve identity checks and having to do KYC for willing users, which could cause problems for the admin (and the forum) by having to store sensitive information like that.

And yes, some forum user may have died (as we have seen in other forums), but that is a very personal issue for the families as well as their desire to tell someone or not.

Keeping secrets can be beneficial, especially when it comes to sensitive information like cryptocurrency accounts e.g. Altcoin and Bitcoin and so on. This helps prevent hacking and scams. However, it's essential to share this information with at least one trusted person, so they can access your account in case of an emergency or after your passing. They can also inform other relevant parties, such as forum members.

But there's a risk that the person you trust might betray you after you're gone. Thinking they're the only one with access, they might secretly take over the account and keep it for themselves, without informing your family or the forum members.

I never thought to write this thread but age must have a limit. What if a member here dies but he has a complex case that is unknown to his friends in the real world.
For example:

- he is in the middle of a contest that looks like a candidate to be the winner and needs confirmation of attendance.
- he is doing escrow transactions with other members.
- he has debts to fellow altcoinstalks members.
- and there are still many other tasks that he has not done with his relations here.

That person will be assumed that he/she has decided not to continue with the forum, or lost his/her login details. In the point of escrow, we have seen lots of escrows and managers who has disappeared into thin air with payments of members of the forum throughout the crypto industry, so, it's no more new to crypto users.

I'll conclude that he/she has quite crypto activities.

Personal identities are not made open to everyone on the forum. If for instance, they have members on the forum that knows them, that will be the only person who can alert the members or forum moderators of such diseased person from the forum.

This can also be tracked down from local threads, as every member in the forum have a local threads. But, that doesn't determine that the members in the local threads will know each other facially. To a little extent, there's still anonymity in this forum and for that, they'll be seen as people who are busy with the real life activities.

There is an altcoinstalk telegram channel where users here in the forum was also there. I think it's easier to reply there than in the forum. So if a users telegram account doesn't answer, then we can conclude something happened to that user.

We can't say anything else but something happen.
So is a family member able to claim the account?  Only the Admin can decide.
