HODLers, do you use paper wallets?

I only ask those who hold crypto for the long term because I know those who frequently trade will find paper wallets inefficient. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.

Many articles I've read recommend paper wallets because they allow you to store your keys offline. We are all familiar with the risks related to hot wallets and even hardware wallets have issues. With paper wallets' biggest drawbacks of loss and damage, will you continue to use them?

If you can use wallet on airgapped device, it would be good like a paper wallet but you will be able to spend from it frequently anytime you are at home with a watch only wallet.

I have not used a paper wallet before.

Hardware wallet are good if you go for good one. Not like Ledger Nano.

Paper wallets are a type of digital storage and no matter how good or perfect you think they are, there are other better ways. Paper wallets are also bad in terms of privacy, as you cannot generate more than one address and you need software, while the two seeds are effective and easier to remember, all you need is a pen and paper.

It's interesting question. Paper wallet was popular choice many years ago, even though it's not safe to re-use it (as in scanning the private key to online device and keep storing Bitcoin on the paper wallet). But with rising number of hardware wallet and wallet software which have offline or airgapped feature, i doubt there are many HODLers who still use paper wallet.

I have a Ledger Nano S, I know it's not the best wallet and Ledger did some controversial things, but the device do what I need, to generate a seed offline

So how can you even talk about the drawbacks of paper wallets when you're entrusting your funds to third-party care? Especially one known to have hiccups and lost funds?

It does sound contradictory, but I thought one of the forum's purposes was to gather insights from others. I actually use different types of wallets. I was just curious to know if there are people who still use paper wallets. And from the replies, I did learn something new.

Paper wallets are indeed a good option, but problem is that its not an easy thing to properly make a safe paper wallet and due that its not for everyone. That's why it is no so improtant and people rather use hardware wallets for their cold storage.

Well, same thing can happen to hardware wallet too, for example in the case of fire, floor or some other similar type of disaster.

Compared to paper wallet, Airgapped wallets are convenient to use and I tried it but not really using it probably not anyone other than one time storage like a savings for x years then access the funds in it.

In any type of non custodial wallet the backup of private keys is the real challenge and it prone to same risks so someone who are planning to hold for long term should also plan their backups according to access the wallet when it's needed.

I never used one. I think I made my first wallet with Electrum. After that, I moved to air-gapped devices and hardware wallets for long-term storage. I don't think I'll ever use one considering how many options are available today. That being said, some crypto enthusiasts that I know of like to buy stuff to experiment with stainless steel to store their seed phrases. I think it's fun for experiment but probably not practical for most users today. CMIIW.

You're right, but paper is weaker than material usually used to create hardware wallet. Although it doesn't matter when you store it on durable storage.

I also seen some enthusiast doing that. But it's rather different with traditional paper wallet which shows private key and address in text and QR code format.

I remember I used this one https://www.bitaddress.org/
I downloaded the whole site and generated the paper wallets offline on my PC

It served me well for a while, and I believe that many have also used this tool

Too risky to use,i would rather buy and use hardware wallet like trezor for cheaper one for safety and morely for security reasons just what i did.

Paper wallets can be physical damage, and loss, so naw.
