Imagine you're the owner of a casino. You spend millions of dollars just to have your logo printed on a club's jersey --sure, there will be photo sessions with the jersey-- but is it worth the cost? Isn't it more about bragging rights, brand image, etc.? I doubt people will register for Casino ABC just because its logo is on a shirt.

I can understand if the club is Real Madrid, Manchester City, or another team with a massive global audience, as millions of people will see them. But the reality is, even smaller clubs that most people don't pay attention to are receiving sponsorships from casinos.

What do you think? Is this a waste of an advertising budget?

I don't think they are going for the money or even people signing up for the casino, what they mostly cared about is visibility just people to know that such casino is existing, and of course there is every possibility that people will likely sign up and most casino don't even need crowd what they just wished is for reputable influencer who gambles with higher amount to just sign up and start using their casino, with this they can make huge amount from those people who stakes with higher amount. I can also sight an example using Drake the popular rapper who is known to be betting higher amount on Stake.com. So, printing their logo on an football jersey is like global marketing and that is what they want and not just population.

Who knows what the conversion rates are but I do know that these casinos/bookies also understands their target market. The companies have the data and knows better. For those ads, they probably expect around 10% sign ups from stadium and online viewers. If there are over 100K viewers in a month that could see their brand and around 10% signs up, that's already a good deal for the advertisers.

To add to what SmartGold01 said, it's never a waste of funds or budget for casinos to have their names on the shirt of a team. Football is just another crazy business entirely, where every partnership gets their own rewards in one way or the other. There are two clubs (Southampton and Everton) in the English premier league currently that puts on two different casino names on their shirt. You should probably check them out.

The sole purpose of this is just visibility. And when there is visibility, they tend to get more customers (users) as well, and even other clubs that might be interested in having partnership.

Marketing is very important in a business. Many businesses may have good idea and better products and services, but if their marketing strategy is not good, the business can die down or they may not have customers. The gambling sites that are advertising are paying huge amount of money because they are seeing the result. As more people know about them, the more people will join the gambling site and be gambling. The money they are paying are very worth it.

Yeah, I didn't doubt it would increase brand image and stuff, and surely it will somewhat increase visibility/impression, but still, is it worth it for the sole purpose of brand prestige? Is the money better spent somewhere else? Not sure if it's worth it or just hype since some time ago I questioned the Airline's Business as well. I can understand the sportswear logo though since the business aligned perfectly with the audience.

Or maybe it's really expensive to raise the brand prestige thus it's justified.

It's not just about profit that casinos want to gain when they sponsor a team or they appoint someone to work with them. There is something bigger than that and they understand that.

one of them is when they work with a football club, then they will get a kind of trust. Because it is impossible for a club to want to work with a fraudulent casino. Well, this is one strategy to gain trust. In a business like this, trust is very important.

I will say that the casinos are advertising their casinos for the world to see because a lot of people all over the world watch football every weekend and no matter the club that the name of the casino is on, it will still be visible because when they are playing with big teams, you have no option than to watch the performance of your club. I don't see it as waste of money but rather a marketing strategy to gain people attention towards their casino. You will be surprised that majority of fans will be gambling on the casino sponsoring their club.

It surely cannot be a waste of advertising budgets because if it were not successful, other casinos would not have emulated or adopted these marketing moves. Club Jerseys are one way to really market your brand because no matter how small the club is, they have supporters and a fan base who are willingly go ahead to buy the club jersey and wear it proudly to any place of their choice. By wearing the club Jerseys, these people are also advertising the sponsors.

Well, big time casinos certainly do not want to look cheap and want to show the potential customers that they are capable enough to pay up even if you win a huge amount. Again, it depends on their target market. Local casinos would also spend on ads and promotions but I don't expect them to go as far as the big ones.

It's not like they can win if they (clubs) decided to dispute it anyway. Maybe they did challenge already but for better image, the PL just said it's voluntary.

For the ban, it has to be a serious problem before they implement a drastic measure like that. That shows how effective the gambling ads are and why sponsors pays millions to have their brand printed on shirts.

One of the best marketing they can ever do is this, because while you may think Real Madrid is great advertisement spot, remember a team which is much smaller and do not have enough fans will also play against real Madrid too, and Barcelona, and maybe others. So you are getting cheaper pay, but you are getting good results anyway. Plus, why football teams? Well because football teams have fans that bet on football games, so when they see the shirt, and when they are not happy with their casino anymore, where do you think those people go? This is an advertisement, and the casino will profit from any money spent to have its logo on a team's shirt, no matter how small the team is. There is no team without a fan base, so it will attract the team's fans, and because this small team plays in a popular league and competes with top and popular teams, the advertisement will reach a larger audience.

Sports, particularly football, bring people from all over the world together, and with a large number of people streaming football matches, it is not unusual to sponsor a team and have them wear their logo. Whether we accept it or not, many people will visit the casino, and if the casino offers promotions, bonuses, and enjoyable games, it will be easier to entice players to stick to the casino.
